On February 24, 2016, car brakes on my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid locked up when we tried to stop and about 4 lights came up on the dashboard, ABS,vsc, warning light and another one. We barely managed to get out of harm's way but after the grinding noise had lost all effective power to the brakes. The car actually caught fire due to the intense heat of the grinding of the pads on the rotors but was safely put out. After replacing the pads, rotor and callipers we still wound up taking the car to a dealer because the brake actuator or something related was still not letting the brakes work. The dealer has given us a lame excuse of why this has happened and is blaming it on something else and wants to charge us a lot of money to repair it. Upon research, we are finding out about the ze1 campaign where they had acknowledged this defect. …
My vehicle's brakes failed resulting in rear-ending the car in front. This happened on a freeway going straight at 10 am. My vehicle was moving at about 20 miles/ hr when I stepped forcefully on the brake pedal as the car in front of me slowed but I did not lurch forward, my seat belt did not tighten to pull me back and my bag pack that was on the front passenger leather seat stayed where it was. My vehicle behaved as if I had not braked. When I stepped on the brakes, I could see asphalt between my vehicle and the vehicle in front. My vehicle's front bumper, grill and hood was damaged. The vehicle immediately in front of mine had dents on the rear bumper and the trunk. There was a third vehicle in front of the one in front of mine that was also damaged, however, I do not know the extent of the damage. …
I was driving my vechicle yesterday that was just in the shop since Saturday saying that they replaced everything that was wrong because previously my breaks locked up on I-95 and I couldn't stop. I got the vechicle back yesterday and I was driving home from work and my breaks failed again causing me to rear end the person in front of me. I could not stop. Absolutely no breaks!! The vechicle was in motion trying to come to a complete stop. I believe the ABS break aculator / module in the vechicle is bad. The company whom I bought it from I believe should take responsibility for this accident considering they're the ones who stated they fixed the vechicle
My wife was driving from work as she was approaching a stop light she hit the brakes to stop. To her surprise almost all the lights on the dashboard came on simultaneously. And there was no brakes so instead of hitting the car in front of her she went over the curve to avoid hitting the car. It cost us a rim and tire. I m just glad she or someone else wasn't injured. Since then my wife refuses to drive the car never again she told me and wished me good luck. I have drove the car myself and have experience the same issue where all the ABS and brake lights come on and there's total loss of brakes. I have taken the vehicle to the mechanic and told me is the ABS actuator pump that goes bad without notice. He told me its not the first time a customer has came in with this problem on the 2007 and 2008. …
Twice in the past two days, I was driving down the road and my ABS and check vsc lights came on. The first time, nothing appeared to happen to the vehicle other than the lights. Today however, I was driving at highway speed when the lights came on. Luckily, I was approaching congested traffic and I was able to slow down naturally. As I came to the traffic and was driving at roughly 15mph, I tried to depress the brake and it went directly to the floor and did not apply any brake pressure or stop the car in any way. I pumped the brakes while veering onto the shoulder. The car did not stop at all and I was forced to coast to a stop on the shoulder of a 5 lane highway, where speeds often reach 70mph or higher. I restarted the vehicle, the lights turned off and I was able to drive the rest of the way home. I called local Toyota dealerships and made an appointment to check the car. …
I was driving on the free way the first time this event happened to me. My brake light came on indicating that my brake was on I pulled over to check it and my brake was off. When I went back on the freeway all of my warning lights turned on and it was very hard to brake I had to press the brake pedal really hard to even get my car to stop. The warning lights will stay on for about 10 minutes or so and then the brakes lock and come to a sudden stop. I took it to the Toyota dealership who sold me my car and they ran a diagnostic and could not find anything. The second time this happened to me it became quite dangerous. The brake light came on again while I was on the freeway going 65 (the speed limit). I was being very cautious with my car since that happened. All of the warning lights came on again. I was on a freeway ramp merging to get onto a different free way section. …
For several weeks prior to 10/12/2017, I had been noticing a squeaking noise when depressing the brake to start the car and sometimes when the car was stopped at a light. I brought the car to the venice Toyota dealer on 10/05/2017, and was told that the ABS actuator was failing. On 10/12/2017, all of the brake warning lights came on on my dashboard: ABS, traction control, etc., as well as the words "check vsc system." on 10/13/2017, I had the actuator assembly replaced by venice Toyota, at a cost of $1990.00. Three years prior, in January 2014, I had already had the actuator assembly replaced due to the very same failure.there were many reports to the NHTSA at that time for the same make vehicles and year range. Several months later Toyota issued a vehicle warranty enhancement for the actuator system, and I was eventually reimbursed by Toyota for that repair. …
Brake actuator failed, triggering warning lights and making it hard to push on the pedal to stop the car while in motion. ABS function won't activate. The issue started in May 2017 and was taken to a Toyota dealer in lufkin, texas for diagnosis. The technicians "couldn't" determine the problem and released the vehicle. This same step happened multiple times over the ensuing months, only to be finally diagnosed on dec 13, 2017. I researched the issue online and found that the actuator problem is covered by a 'warranty extension,' which stretches out the warranty period beyond the standard three years or 36 months to, ultimately, 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. I thought that was good news, but after speaking with Toyota corporate rep, the warranty was denied due to the vehicle being out of the coverage period since June. …
I was driving my car going to work I was going 30 MPH when with out any explanation a brake red warning light pop up in the screen on my 2007 Toyota Hybrid I try to put the brakes and they were not working I begging to panic thanks god I do not enter the highway and I was able to pull to a mechanic shop that was very closed. The mechanic check the brakes in the car and every looks good he said I told him what are you taking about the brakes where not working I explain and then I remember a couple weeks ago I got a recall in the mail and give to mechanic and he explain to me that I have to take the car to the dealer right away. I am afraid to drive this car I contact the Toyota head quarters and they said they will fixed for free the real issue here is many of this cars in the roads we drive all children in these cars. …
