Tl contact owned a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. While driving 25 MPH and coming to a stop light there was sudden acceleration. While depressing the brakes which went all the way to the floor the vehicle would not stop. As she made a left turn the vehicle crashed into the light pole and was destroyed. There were two injuries but no one was transported to the hospital. The seat belts were worn at the time of impact. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who contacted the insurance company. The insurance company inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the vehicle was a total lost. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 30,000. Updated 01/31/11 the consumer stated prior to the accident, she previously complained about a squeaking sound when she applied the brake and some irregularity when accelerating. …
As I was approaching a pedestrian crossing, the ABS light and check vsc light and brake light went on in my Camry Hybrid. When I tried to apply brakes to stop, I realized that the brakes completely failed. I did a sharp evasive turn and hit the curb hard in attempt not to run over pedestrians in the crossing! The lights subsequently disappeared and brakes resumed their normal function after a few minutes. The issue of brakes failing is intermittent and happened subsequently several times at various speeds. When taken to the dealer at first I was told there were no codes registered in the computer and the brakes operate standard. When I insisted after approximately 7 hours of testing the dealer told me the problem is with the brake control unit (computer). After researching online I discovered its a widespread problem!!! …
Had accident with '07 Camry Hybrid. Recalls done 5 days previously. Applied brake to stop at light. Car accelerated and struck car in front of me. No injuries to anyone including my 97 yr. Old father tow driver said RPM's were "way up" when he drove car to put it on flatbed. Recalled incident of six months previously, after accident, when I attempted to brake at corner before making left turn. Car accelerated and I shot across street frantically applying brake and stopped just short of a line of parked cars. Thought little more about the incident as I believed, at the time, that I had mixed up the accelerator and brake pedals. Driving a rental at present, car is on hold before repair so it can be inspected by Toyota. The subrogation dept. Of my ins. Company has attempted to contact Toyota to discuss a number of claims by their customers and Toyota has not responded so far.
Car brake fails with multiple lights on. ( vsc system check , ABS , brake , etc ) it was repaired by Toyota dealer under "Toyota recall" program for "brake-fluid problem" . But they didn't repair " ABS actuator" under warranty enhancement program (ze1). & manager said your VIN is/was not eligible for ze1. I looked into "ze1" program, http://www-odi.NHTSA.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/ucm458138/inot-pe14001-59690.pdf but I don't see my VIN in the range provided., not sure why. Since my car is 2007 Camry Hybrid, it should be part of that recall also. This is life threatening situation where your car breaks fail all of sudden on highways. These cars should be recalled or atleast get repaired at Toyota's cost.
On 20 March 2015, while starting the car, a warning indicator showed up on my instrument panel. The indicator stated ( check Hybrid system.....vsc system ). I parked the car for the day. Day 2, I took the car to a auto shop and had a basic scan that reads ABS codes performed on the car. The basic scan reveled to "replace battery pack". Two mechanics informed me while performing the scan, a burning odor was observed from the car. I drove the car home and parked it. I lastly observed the only information displayed from the instrument panel was " check Hybrid system". The only lights on were the warning light and the engine light.
Check vsc warning indicator came on when driving my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid this afternoon. When that was on, my car was dragging as if the emergency brakes were on. So I drove very slow when this took place, in an attempt to get home since I was only a few miles from where I lived. In about 5-7 minutes, when I had stopped at a red light, this warning went off and the car worked as it normally has. When I got home and googled this for my car, a number of articles came up about a possible recall for this issue for 2007 Toyota Camry hybrids. Can you please advise on the status of the possible recall for this issue with this car?
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact was braking from 25 MPH and approaching a stop sign when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact engaged the brakes with more extreme force yet the vehicle continued to accelerate and crashed into another vehicle. There were no injuries. A police report was available. The vehicle sustained damages to the driver side of her vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 38,147 and the current mileage was 38,247. Updated 01/13/11 updated 01/27/11.
The ABS light and check vsc light and brake light went on. When I tried to apply brakes to stop, I realized that the brakes completely failed. The car was skidding and keep going and I pumped the brakes and still the car was moving forward. I came close to hitting another car and luckily stopped couple of inches from the other car. It keeps happening often and I am worried to drive this car as it is. It works fine and suddenly goes to this brake failing mode. Especially happen more often if it rains and making it more dangerous.
While parking, my vehicle suddenly accelerated while turning into a parking spot. I did not inadvertently press the accelerator, and the accelerator was not entangled in the floor mat. The vehicle rapidly accelerated over the curb, through an adjoining grassy area, and stopped after hitting a cement wall. Later, the car was inspected by the Toyota dealer where I purchased the vehicle. The dealer indicated there were no problems with the accelerator or other equipment that would have caused this sudden acceleration.
As I was traveling on i75 north of atlanta, I needed to slow for traffic congestion. I applied the brakes, but they didn't seem to work. Several lights on the dash came on including the check Hybrid engine, the check vsc system, and the ABS lights. The power brakes were off and it became difficult to stop. Then the vehicle's engine stopped completely requiring me to maneuver out of heavy traffic to the shoulder of the road. I turned on my hazard lights, but was almost hit by several vehicles as I got to the shoulder.
