March 10,2023 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins 6.7L Diesel I picked up my truck from the dealership this morning, after they did the outstanding CP4 fuel pump recall. I drove the vehicle home (approx 20) miles. Parked the car in the driveway for about 3 hours. Then took a short trip to the store. After the store, when leaving the parking lot I noticed an electrical/plastic smell. Within in seconds smoke started to come through the air vents. I pulled the truck over, turned off the truck, open the hood when fire exspelled from the engine compartment. Immediately call the fire department. They arrived in minutes to put out the fire, but at that point the whole front end of the truck was on fire and smoking (dense white/gray smoke). Then there was a loud burst of flame that came from the engine compartment. The fire worked its way into the cab compartment, burned it completely. The truck is totaled.

The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH in rainy weather, the windshield wipers became inoperable, causing the contact to slow down significantly to exit the expressway. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the totally integrated power module (TIPM) had failed, causing the body control module (BCM) to fail. The dealer replaced the TIPM and BCM. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

Smoke emanated from the engine bay shortly after starting the vehicle first thing in the morning. The temperature outside was less 40*. Shortly after seeing smoke, the engine bay was engulfed in flames, centered on the hood, near the windshield. Newer vehicles have fire risk recalls regarding the intake-grid heater shorting out, but not the 2019 model. The grid heater would have been on due to the temperature. Please see the reports from the Police and Fire Department attached. The truck was totaled.

Continuation to NHTSA ID # 11511305 Adding some more details and photos of the Fire. (2019 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins Diesel engine) This is to describe the time frame from the start of the vehicle to when the fire department put out the fire. I have a store receipt that time stamps my checkout time at 2:11p CT, from the time I left the store, loaded my purchases into the truck, started and drove the car a very short distance, when the smoke started to pour out of the inside ventilation system, I pulled the truck over to the side of the road, got out of the truck and called 911 (time stamped from my phone was 2:29p CT. (18 minutes from checkout to 911 call. I Took a picture of the truck after the fire department put out the fire (time stamped 2:38p CT (9 minutes from the start of the 911 call). Adding some pictures of the burnt-out truck. …

SYMPTOM: Driver side vanity mirror light and garage door (homelink) stop working with a short time period where they will work if held in a certain position. This is the second time this has happened, with the first time being under warranty (mileage estimated at 32000). I am well past warranty period. I disassembled the visor to find 2 frayed wires and a wire that has been severed at the point they entered the visor chamber from the guide tube (IMG_1819, IMG_1817, IMG-1821, &IMG-1820). In my opinion there is a flaw in the exit port that cause the wires rub against a relatively sharp tube edge as the visor is extended/retracked with no exit relieve, just some thin ineffective cloth tape, obiviously. FYI, the wires were pulled through the rod to better expose the damage. …

I was driving at night when my wipers activated at full speed on there own causing my trucks horn and blinkers to stop working. I was with my wife and 2 children when this occurred causing my wife and I to feel very uncomfortable. Driving with this issue for an extended period. This is not the first time it has occurred Anna my truck only has 38,000 miles but this is the first time of it activating at night which is what made it that much worse and what ultimately got me to go to the dealer to have it looked at. I took it in and they determined it was the clockwork-steering column control mod. I have already gone ahead and paid for the parts which are back ordered and waiting on repairs. When this incident occurred I did not see or notice any prior warnings. …

My 2019 Ram 2500 with push button start became completely immobilized due to failure of the RF Hub Module. The truck has full electrical power but will not crank, will not click, and will not shift out of Park. The Check Engine Light blinks several times and stays on, and the security system does not activate. This is a known failure on 2018-2020 Ram HD trucks. The RF Hub controls the start authorization and immobilizer system, and when it fails the vehicle cannot be moved, even into Neutral. This is a safety hazard because the vehicle can become stranded in traffic or in unsafe locations. The part is on national backorder with almost no availability in the [redacted] , leaving owners without transportation for weeks or months. Chrysler/Stellantis has not issued a recall or provided alternative solutions. This is a critical safety defect that immobilizes the vehicle without warning."

When driving down the road, intermittently my truck will lose throttle input. I get a check engine light and the electronic throttle control light. this is extremely dangerous when pulling out into traffic or even pulling out onto a higher speed road because the truck will not let me accelerate. It will just sputter and I have to fight it to about 35mph when I can activate cruise control then am forced to drive only using cruise control no matter what the road or traffic is like which is also not very safe. So far, I am at 3 service appointments over the span of about a month and a half, over $500 invested and the dealer cannot find the culprit or issue causing this. I know that fault code P2121 is set off but it does not lead to much.
