The contact called on behalf of his daughter who owns a 2015 Mazda CX5. The contact stated that while his daughter was loading groceries in the trunk, the liftgate dropped unexpectedly and the corner of the liftgate hit her in the head, causing a laceration. The contact's daughter was taken to urgent care where she was informed that she had sustained a laceration and three staples were put on the laceration. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V644000 (Structure); however, the recall remedy failed to resolve the safety issue. Transmission & drivetrain
The contact owns a 2015 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that while pressing the brake pedal the engine had experienced very high revving and the vehicle would lurch forward. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a PCM and TCM program update and reset the KAM per the manufacturers TSB. The contact indicated that the failure was corrected for a while but recently the failure had reoccurred. The local dealer was contacted and a service appointment was scheduled. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 25,000.
2015 Mazda CX-5 with 91,000 miles on it. Automatic transmission has failed. When I attempted to pull out into traffic the vehicle would not shift into 2nd gear and instead jerked hard and the engine RPMs revved up. I was not able to get the vehicle past 10mph. This failure with the transmission resulted in the oncoming traffic having to swerve and break to avoid a collision with me. The vehicle was taken to a Mazda dealership who did a diagnostic on it and found that the Mazda had an "internal transmission failure" and would require a full replacement. I asked if it would be replaced with the same exact transmission and was told "no, the defect was discovered by Mazda and has been correct for new transmission models." The manufacture knows about this issue. Luckily I escaped serious bodily injury. …
Windows, wipers & sunroof
This complaint is about 2015 Mazda CX-5 design problem when one or botjh rear windows are open: the problem is when one or both are down a few inches or more a very loud thumping noise with feeling of pulsing air causing very uncomfortable hearing & potential of headaches if windows not closed immediately. Front windows usually up but can be opened a few inches and thumping still very loud. This situation happens at speeds above 25 MPH & worse on highways. This same problem reported to NHTSA on 9/19/2014, with I.d. #10637592. As other complaint noted Mazda is aware of problem a long time ago & supposedly has not done any proactive steps to fix it. They supposedly have a kit consumers can purchase. I would not have purchased car if problem was known ahead of time or happened during test drive. Mazda is not being truthful to consumers and must be held accountable for this cover up. …
Car sat for approx 4 hours while visiting relatives, on my home I noticed a crack approx 8-10" long in the middle of the windshield, from the base under the wipers up towards the middle of the windshield curving towards the drivers side at almost a 90 degree angle at the end. There are no marks that look like anything hit the windshield, it's a straight clean crack. I'm hoping the dealer will cover it but from what I've read it doesn't look good. I would think there should be a recall on the windshields, if they are cracking like this for no apparent reason, or because of weather changes, or because you're washing your car on a hot day, I can only imagine what would happen to them if the cars are actually in an accident, they would never withstand the impact and shatter to a million pieces! How safe is that? The should definitely be recalled and replaced with better made windshields.
