What owners report
While waiting at a drive thru, the brakes did not respond when pressed and the car kept moving forward. The emergency braking system also did not respond. The car was placed into park and the car still did not stop. This resulted in hitting the car in front of us in line.
With only 4811 miles on our Jeep Wagoneer, it had TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE causing my wife to drive thru a stop sign avoiding pedestrians. I had it towed by Jeep roadside assistance to St.Clair Chrysler Jeep in St. Clair MI. on [redacted]. A week later on [redacted] I was told to come pick up the car and that it was repaired. The porter went to move the car and again TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. The vehicle was again repaired and when I went to get it, I asked if the brakes were guaranteed to work and no one would say that they were. This car model has a lot of brake issues and I can't have my family drive in it anymore, I traded it in on another new car but lost $14.000 in depreciation do to brakes. This is not my fault.
The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system falsely engages under normal driving conditions when no obstacles, vehicles, or other hazards are present. These false activations occurred at very low speeds, while stopped, while parking, and while the vehicle is in neutral. When this happens, the vehicle brakes abruptly, shifts itself into park, and shuts off entirely. This is not normal system operation and creates a significant safety concern because the vehicle has stopped abruptly and disabled itself unexpectedly on numerous occasions while moving. While my vehicle was in neutral and moving through an automatic car wash on a track, the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system malfunctioned. My vehicle shifted itself into park and shut down. This sudden engagement caused the vehicle behind me to collide with the rear of my vehicle. …
At stoplight getting ready to turn left light turns green I proceed going about 15 20 mph in the middle of the intersection middle of the turn the car just slammed on its brakes. I thought I got in a car accident but looked around and there was no other cars around. This was very dangerous and could've been catastrophic the car now the next morning was taken to Jeep and they've been working on it for two days with no answers. I just bought this car eight days prior to it happening and do not want to get back in this car so I'm trying to do a buyback or lemon. Law are looking for my options for more so you and other people should be notified it's a dangerous vehicle.
After very minor accident the car crash symbol and the car in lane symbol came on and will not turn off. Took to dealer and they said there was no update to correct the problem. Feel unsafe in a car that should be safe since it's new. And has error message of limited functionality.
Driving vehicle with no vehicles within 100 yards directly in front of vehicle and with 1 car in the lane to vehicles right on a 2-lane road. Vehicle on the right was about 30-40 car lengths ahead of my own vehicle. The collision detection system and emergency braking system sounded off, lit up the dash panel stating BREAK, and then applied the brakes while going 50 mph with drivers behind me. The driver behind me had to swerve onto the left median to avoid colliding with my vehicle. The obvious issue here is that no vehicle was within any distance that should have triggered my collision avoidance system, but yet it went off unexpectedly and almost caused the person behind me to wreck their vehicle into mine. No check engine light or other service lights were on at the time of this event or subsequent events I have experience since this first event occurring. …
