The contact owns a 2024 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V735000 (STEERING). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the recall repair was performed; however, the contact stated that afterwards, while driving at various speeds and making a right or left turn, the steering wheel was making an abnormal clicking sound and was jerking abnormally. The Lane Keep Assist warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the rack and pinion were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, after the vehicle had warmed up, there was a popping and clicking sound coming from the vehicle while turning the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The contact stated that one year later, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering rack needed to be replaced a second time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.
My Honda is having strange, intermittent issues with a plethora of things. I have taken it to a diagnostic specialist who worked with a phone mechanic and noone can tell me what is going on. My car will fully shut off at stop lights randomly, so I have to turn off the auto-idle feature every time I drive. Sometimes my power steering cuts out and my wheel locks and unlocks and my computer screen shuts off when this happens. I have to shut off and start my car for it to work again. Other times, all of my automated safety features stop and I get a huge slew of messages telling me that my lane assist, automatic hill braking, and a ton of other automatic safety features don't work. My car can't lane assist, do adaptive cruise control, use the backup camera, or anything. It goes away if I stop and restart my car a bunch. …
2024 Honda Pilot steering rack problem In December 2023, we purchased a brand-new Honda Pilot Touring. As of today, June 25, 2026 our Honda Pilot will receive from a certified Honda Dealer Repair section it's third 3rd, yes, third steering rack and pinion. First time back to the dealer, they used special grease and grease it. This did nothing, to stop the creaking and cracking as you turn the steering wheel. This issue continued as you drove the vehicle. Second time back a week later, the Honda Technician replace the steering rack. We had to wait for the new rack to arrive, no stock. Now our new vehicle has the original replaced with a second steering rack. Now 10 months later, with a total of 15,670 miles on our vehicle the steering rack and pinion is once again creaking and cracking. Back to the dealer. Our dealer notified Honda Corporate Tech Center for direction in this matter. …
Driving down a 4 lane highway in Alabama, warning lamp came on stating " STOP Steering assist reduced. Stop driving when safe". Multiple other warnings lights came on--Brake system, steering system, cruise control, lane departure, stability assist system, hill assist, trailer stability assist system(see multiple photos attached). When it was safe to do so, I pulled over...the steering was VERY difficult to manage. If I had to make a turn in traffic or had to make a sudden turn to avoid an accident, I would not have been able to do so as there was NO power steering. I turned the car off, let it sit for several minutes and the Steering Assist warning was off and I appeared to have power steering but several others lights were still on. Took the car the the closet dealer and only code found was a Low Voltage Code but nothing repaired as all warnings lights were off by then.
Crackling/clicking noises coming from steering rack after the vehicle has warmed up and driven for 10-20 mins. Noises are more noticeable when driving at slow speeds and when pulling in/out of parking spaces. The electric steering rack in my vehicle has been replaced twice under warranty and these noises have reappeared approximately 1-2 months after each repair/replacement event which suggests a design/manufacturing defect with this part. There is no known technical service bulletin of this issue. The short and long-term effects of this defect are not publicly known and may pose a safety hazard. From research and discussions in online forums, this appears to be common problem with 4th generation honda pilots which started in model year 2023.
Strange clicking noise during low speed steering left or right and moving steering wheel while parked. Honda dealer states they are unable to replicate issue. Issue is very unusual for a new vehicle. Multiple people have same issues on forums and Facebook groups. This is a potential safety issue if there is a faulty electrical steering gear box or suspension component. Honda needs to take responsibility and fix this issue instead of saying they can't replicate it or that it maybe normal. I took video it is a sound that is audible inside and out.
After going over a railroad track, at 15mph, several warning sensors appeared. Including brakes, power steering and several more flashed quickly. Power steering failed and I could not turn my wheel. It told me to not drive and see a dealer. Luckily I was in traffic and it was moving slow. I was able to turn my car off and back on and all the senor systems cleared. I took my car to the dealer, which it is at now, and they cant find a problem outside of wheel sensor going off in history. I dont feel safe with this car.
Sudden collision warning displayed on dashboard and brakes were automatically applied. No vehicles in front of me and vehicle behind was sufficient distance away. There was no collision situation at all. Brake system light, collision warning light, and collision mitigation braking system problem - See your dealer displayed on dashboard. I pulled into parking a parking lot, stopped, and turned engine off. After restarting engine, error seemed to clear. Dealer review is pending.
I bought my 2024 Honda Pilot two weeks ago, it only has 300 miles and suddenly all the warnings indicating system failures were activated, engine check, lane assist, emergency braking, emission system, etc., it almost didn't start, it left me in road. It is not possible that something practically new is failing like that with two weeks of use and only 300 miles, that is not right, it is putting lives in danger. honda has to solve that

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Pilot vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the gear box assembly may contain a loose ball bearing, which can result in a loss of steering control or steering lock-up.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the electric power steering rack, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 18, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
