Intermittently, my 2022 Honda Odyssey with less than 16,000 miles will "stall" after the idle stop/start system is enacted. The first time it happened, I was waiting to turn left out of a parking lot onto a busy road. The idle stop kicked in, and when I went to go, my car lurched about 5 feet and the engine cut out completely requiring me to turn off the car with the push button start, restart the car, and put the car into drive. Luckily, people going both directions on the crossroad were able to go around me. This has happened probably 10 times before I was able to get it into the car dealership for service. It has no rhyme or reason for when it happens. The car dealership replaced the battery and said that it should fix the issue. When I went to leave the dealership after the "fix" the car again "stalled" as I was leaving the driveway of the dealership. …

The liftgate on my vehicle stopped functioning in March 2024, one month after the warranty expired. On June 24, 2025, the vehicle underwent a power tailgate unit replacement and water leak repair at Ocean Honda of Brockton. Water had leaked into the tailgate unit and caused it to short out. The total cost for this repair was $1,776.18. I have attached a copy of the paid service repair summary and proof of payment. My primary concern, beyond the financial burden, is the inherent safety risk posed by this malfunction. As a parent of three children, we specifically chose the Honda Odyssey for its reputation for safety and reliability as a family vehicle. A power tailgate unit that can fail due to water infiltration presents a serious hazard, as it could cause the tailgate to unexpectedly open while the vehicle is in motion. …

The engine fails to restart on its own after the Auto Idle Stop (auto start/stop) system shuts it off at a stop. When this occurs the vehicle is left without power and I must shift to Park and restart the engine manually with the ignition button. This has happened while I was stopped at an intersection in traffic, leaving the vehicle disabled in a live lane until I could restart it. This is a serious safety hazard - the vehicle cannot move when traffic begins to move, and it cannot be moved out of the path of cross traffic. Honda's service campaign remedy for this condition (PGM-FI software update) was performed on my vehicle in March 2025. The failure recurred after that repair and has continued for approximately nine months. On [redacted] I returned to the selling dealer (Bob Rohrman Honda, Lafayette, Indiana, RO #[redacted]) and was charged $170 for diagnosis. …

After a heavy rain, the rear tailgate stopped working- apparently the roof seals have cracked and water leaked into the rear part of the car, and destroyed the tailgate latch and control unit. When I was driving the car for service, the rear sensor kept beeping indicating that the tailgate was not latched properly- I was afraid it would open it, so I had to drive carefully to the dealer. Now, the dealer says it a known problem on the 22 odysseys that the seals crack and leak water into the car, but its not covered by any warranty, even though when I bought the car last year, it was a honda certified warranty. Now its a $2,630.00 job to repair this. The dealer said there was significant rust due to the leaking of the seals around the latch and controller unit. here isa link that says this problem actually goes back to 2018-2024 odysseys. …

On October 31, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealer for several issues, including an Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem, a memory seat malfunction, and other concerns that were discussed with the service advisor and are listed in the invoice. I was charged almost $1,000, including a new battery. Initially, some of the problems appeared to be resolved, but shortly after the service, the Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem reappeared, and the memory seat stopped working again. Even more concerning, a new and dangerous issue began immediately after the repair: while driving at night, the headlights suddenly turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on, and the "Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem" warning appears at the same time. This issue never occurred before the dealer performed the repair. …
