What 2020 Honda Fit owners say
Driver assistance
The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system and multipurpose camera unit (part of Honda Sensing) on my 2020 Honda Fit malfunction intermittently. On some engine starts the camera and ACC function normally. On other starts the camera does not work at all and ACC is completely unavailable. The vehicle and the camera/related components remain available for inspection upon request. When the multipurpose camera fails at startup, Adaptive Cruise Control and associated Honda Sensing features are completely unavailable. This removes automatic distance control, forward collision warning, and related driver-assistance functions, creating an increased risk of collision, especially during highway driving or in traffic where those systems are relied upon for maintaining safe following distance and providing warnings. It is easy to reproduce. Sundevil auto sees it when servicing my car. …
The Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) consistently provides a false positive when approaching a particular railroad crossing near my home. When about 20 yards away from the crossing (a single set of tracks) approaching at 30-35mph, the BRAKE warning flashes and beeps for a second or two, but it's not clear that any actual braking is applied. This does not happen if I slow to about 20mph or less before approaching the crossing. At this particular railroad crossing, the road is going downhill towards the tracks and the tracks cross the road at 90degrees. This happens day or night (there are street lights at this crossing). The forward collision warning distance is set to Normal. At other railroad crossings where the road is level or going uphill towards the tracks, I have not experienced this issue.
Electrical system
The dealership changed the oil on my 2020 Honda Fit, and the Oil Life display was reset to 100%, on 1/8/24. Two days later the LCD panel, which shows the fuel gauge, odometer, remaining range, oil life, etc. began to intermittently go blank or become garbled and unreadable. This has continued to happen without warning. Especially with respect to the fuel gauge, I believe this is a safety issue, since my only indication of low fuel may occur only when (and if!) the low fuel warning goes on. I had scheduled an appointment to have the dealership look at the panel, but cancelled it when I learned that 1. this has apparently been a common problem in the Honda Fit since at least the 2015 models and 2. the dealership would charge me a $160 diagnostic fee. My car is six months out of warranty, but has only 7,230 miles on it. …
Fuel gauge on my 2020 Honda Fit LX sometimes goes blank or weird graphics under colder temperatures at start up. Doesn't seem to do it all time though ,especially in warmer weather that I've seen. Seems like when the car warms up, it returns to normal. Have around 42000 miles on it now. I haven't taken it in to my Honda dealer yet for inspection. I believe it maybe a circuit board behind the dashboard after watching a You tube video of someone pulling his out and soldering a spot behind the gauge. He seemed to fix it. Puts the driver at risk if he doesn't know if he has gas in the car! No warnings have ever came on either. Other owners have complained on this to. My car has never been in a wreck either. Hardly drive it. Past my warranty to.
Engine & cooling
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Fit. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the warning lights remained illuminated along with the check engine warning light. The vehicle also experienced misfiring while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel injectors were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,623.
On June 10th 2026, my 2020 Honda Fit EX-L with approximately 20,000 miles began misfiring while idle at a light. Error codes started appearing on my dash, no check engine light. Honda of Short Pump diagnosed a cylinder 2 misfire (DTC P0302) caused by a carbon buildup on the intake valves and quoted ~$1200 for valve cleaning. This is the identical failure mode described in Honda Service Bulletin 21-007, whose affected vehicles list includes 2015-2020 Honda Fits, and which Honda covers under warranty extension bulletin 23-042 for 10 years/150,000 miles - but only for 2018-2019 model years. My 2020 vehicle is excluded by VIN range despite an identical defect at far lower mileage. An engine that misfires and loses power in traffic is a safety hazard. American Honda case #16419709 is open. …
