While driving at approximately 70 mph., my passenger side airbags suddenly deployed for no apparent reason. Thankfully no one was in passenger seat or hurt, but the excruciating noise was deafening and this put me at risk since it sounded like an explosion and zero visibility out side window. I had to pull over on side of road and puncture the bags and gain composure and visibility to continue my trip. I have called the recall center and found there were no active recalls but I see that this has been an issue in the past with other 2013 Honda Accords. I have been waiting for the caseworker to have an adjuster look at the vehicle but they are already setting me up for the denial to fix the issue and replace airbags. There were no warning lights to give a signal that this might happen. Case worker is supposed to send me to adjuster to get the vehicle inspected but 2 months have gone by. …

On 11-28-2019@ approximately 1835 hrs. My Honda Accord lx-automatic was involved in a multiple car accident involving 5 cars. I am concerned that the airbags did not deployed when the car was hit from the rear and pushed into the car in front. 2 impacts were felt from behind from. At this time the car is disabled and I am awaiting for esurance to evaluate my loss. I am very concern that this could have potentially been a deadly situation for myself as well as the occupants of the car. I was on the left lane traveling westbound when the car in front of me suddenly slammed on the breaks and the car from behind pushed my car into the car in front of me. The speed limit on the lie 495 westbound is 50 MPH.
I was in an accident on 4-10-15 in my 2013 Honda Accord. I hit another vehicle from behind.it was a very hard in pact but the air bag didn't come out until I tried to open the door to get out of the car.the air bag hit the right side of my face, neck, shoulder and breast.I contacted the Honda dealer and they said its not a big deal and must of pinched a line to the sensor. The paint and body shop said they have never heard of this happening. The insurance wants to fix it for 10,000 and I'm very scared to get my car back and drive it. Please contact me if this has happened to you. [redacted]
My vehicle struck another vehicle in front of me from behind. Airbag lights came on yet did not deploy. Impact caused damage to my chest by the seatbelt. It caused a tissue expander implanted in my right breast to be damaged and ripped out the places stitched to me. The te was there as part of a breast cancer reconstruction process. Surgery was required to remove and replace the te. The front end of the vehicle was damaged, sensors needed replacement, and seatbelt structure also needed replacement.
NHTSA investigations
Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
Electrical overstress
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation to determine if the failure of airbags to deploy during severe crashes, in certain vehicles, was the result of a safety related defect. During the investigation a complex failure was studied that can result in non-deployment of subject vehicle air bags and other restraint system devices in severe crash events.
