Hello, The ignition switch in my vehicle has never worked right. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership for a airbag recall and was told them about the ignition switch problem and recall. They said they would not do the recall and wanted me to call Honda. I called Honda and was told that I would have to pay for diagnostic fee before they would attempt any repairs for this recall. The Honda case number is 14383356. I refuse to pay a fee for what should be a free recall. If you could please help me with this issue I would certainly appreciate it. The recall information is as follows: NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:05V-025 MFR CAMPAIGN ID:P68 CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION:99-02 ACCORD IGN INTERLOCK RECALL DATE:01/27/2005 Thank you in advance for all your help.

My 2000 Honda Accord EX V6 has a few issues: 1. Front/rear struts, sway bar bushings, and sway bar links. This has caused my car to fail safety tests for the last 5 years. I have received an itemized estimate for these issues from a mechanic. 2. Electrical. The front instrument panel is not working properly. I can not touch any buttons on the dash or the lights on the panel will go off completely. Both of these are a huge safety issue and it is not safe to drive! No lights or warning of any kind regarding these issues!

I backed my 2000 Honda Accord sedan uphill into my garage, took the key out of the ignition and started to go into my house when I heard a strange noise. When I turned around the Honda was rolling downhill towards my neighbors house, it stopped short of hitting my neighbors house by some shrubs and a small tree. No serious damage happened. I still had the key in my hand and when I checked the Honda the transmission was in reverse. I tried several times to remove the key in each gear and I was able to remove the key in every position. I took the Honda to a local dealer and they said no recall was on my Honda for that problem and that I had no recourse except to have it repaired on my own. I always heard safety recalls never expired but I guess I was misinformed. …

I had left the car in a parking structure. Apparently I had left the gear in reverse rather than in park. After leaving the car with my ignition key in hand the car began to roll, and subsequently crashed into another car which was parked. The damage was minimal, but costly to repair anyhow. There was a woman with a baby in a carriage which was narrowly missed by the moving vehicle. I have since learned that I should not have been able to remove the key from the ignition with the gear shift lever not in park. In fact, there has been a recall 05V025000 for the exact same problem. Although almost 500000 cars of the same year and model of mine were affected by the recall, my particular VIN was not included. Honda disclaims any responsibility since my warranty has long expired and my car is not covered by the recall. …

The issue at hand involves a 2000 Honda Accord (coupe); I am able to turn the car off and remove the key from the ignition without putting the car into park. I am not sure of when this issue began. However, in mid-2008, I mistakenly left the car in drive and removed the key when parking my car in a parking lot, I left the parking lot and my car proceeded to roll backward and struck another vehicle at some point. This happened again this month. After this point, I researched recall information and saw that in 2005, NHTSA issued campaign 05V025000. I took my car into a dealer to have the issue investigated. My vehicle did indeed have the same issue (malfunctioning interlock) as the one in the recall, but my VIN was not a part of that recall. It seems odd to me that though my car falls into the date range, make and model of this recall and possesses the same issue described in the recall. …

Air conditioner stopped working and all lights on HVAC control panel went out. A small amount of smoke filled passenger compartment and temperature control knob became warm and loose. The plastic temperature control knob came off and I burned myself on the metal temperature control shaft which the knob attaches to. The metal temperature easily exceeded 300 degrees fahrenheit. Once the car was parked and cooled down I removed the HVAC control panel from the dash. The plastic is melted where the temperature control knob is and on the inside of the control panel. I removed the circuit board from the control panel and it smells like burned electronics. The circuit board has brown burn marks and bubbling on the board itself. The entire HVAC control unit will have to replaced at the cost of $200-$300.

Car key can be removed from the ignition without requiring the driver to place the transmission in park. I purchased the car used last month and am not accustomed to driving an automatic-transmission vehicle. On multiple occasions, I have left the car in drive and attempted to exit the vehicle after shutting off the motor, only to have the car begin rolling forward or backward. Condition is extremely dangerous. Curiously, this is the exact problem for which the NHTSA issued recall no. 05V025000. However, dealer and American Honda motor co. Refuse to repair the car because its VIN number does not fall within the range that Honda believes to be inclusive of cars with this defect. Unbelievable. Car is a 2000 Honda Accord.
