Tl* the contact owns a 1995 Honda Accord. While driving 70 MPH with the air conditioner running, smoke appeared under the hood on the passenger side of the vehicle and the temperature gauge increased. The contact mentioned that the failure also occurred when the air conditioner was not activated. Also, when the gear shifter was engaged in "d4", the gear indicator blinked "p". The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 149,995.
(1) the car had no prior problems leading up to the incident. (2) a serious fire in the engine compartment caused serious damage to the engine compartment, exterior paint, and A/C and eletrical system. The hood release no longer works either. (3) no corrective measures(as far as repairs) have been taken. My first action was to contact the bbb and nhts.
When the car is on and the headlights are switched on, the lights on the instrument panel and the lights for the shift stick and the radio flicker or don't turn on at all. When they decide to work, one slight bump and they are off again.
On Thursday May 10, 2001 around 12:05 pm, the starter on our 1995 Honda Accord (@76,000 miles) engaged while no one or the key was in the car. Myself and at least two other people witnessed the car climb a four inch curb and move approximately 35 ft with the parking brake applied. The car was stopped with foot brake. It started to smoke. The engine compartment hood was raised to find the starter and cables in flames. A hand held co2 fire extinguisher was used to put out the fire twice. The local fire department arrived and unhooked the battery. We had the car towed to rick woodson Honda, peters creek road, roanoke, va. This car has never been wrecked. There has never been any work done on the starter. It has never failed to start nor has the starter system ever required checking. Other than motor oil and a battery replaced on November 4, 1999, every maintenance part has come from Honda. …
Tl* the contact owns a 1995 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted immediately and operated as designed. Over the course of two months the failure recurred numerous times. Each time the vehicle was restarted; it became increasingly difficult at times taking up to 45 minutes to restart. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the ignition switch was replaced along with the distributor cap and spark plugs. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 165,000 and the current mileage was 168,000.
The replacement of the failing ignition distributor (engine light is on), which is essential part of the emission control system, is required on my 1995 Honda Accord wagon lx. In addition, there is a significant decrease to the mileage and speed sensor May need to be replaced. According to Honda north America the extension of the emission warranty (TSB# 98-081) granted to all 1995-v6, 1996-all and 97-all accords, is not applicable to my year and model. Since the same exact issues were reported for vehicles covered by extension of the emission warranty (TSB#98-081), Honda should also extend this coverage to 1995 v-4 accords.
1995 Honda Accord ex, automatic transmission: initially, dash lights do not light up when key is in "run" position. Starter motor will turn over, but because there is no ignition current, engine will not start. Non-ignition "on" related accessories (radio, power windows) work fine. However, this occurs intermittently. Eventually, on an occasion when the engine does start, after starting and running, the engine will die while the car is in motion. Please see NHTSA campaign id # 02V120000 for 1997 and newer accords. Ignition "switch plate" was replaced by dealer but problem has returned.
Upon parking at the mall today, I parked next to another, 1995 Honda Accord/ 4- door. The lady inside asked, was that noise my car lock, she showed me that hers was the same, we also have problems with our antenna's, and windows. This is not a real how often do you meet someone with the same problems?( we both have two windows, two doors locks, and antennas problems) and the same model and year. I just wonder how many others have this problem????? And are not complaining.
While driving, both tach and speed needles dropped to 0, engine died and had to switch off. Sometimes, the car would start back up again. Other times, the engine would die right after the engine starts. It sometimes would take about 15 minutes of switching the keys off/on before the engine would stay running. Then after some distance, the engine would die without warning again.
Tl* the contact owns a 1995 Honda Accord. While traveling at speeds of 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was informed that the electronic ignition switch would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was unable to provide any assistance and the vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 194,000.
