I 'm having problems with the brakes of my Mustang gt 2000. This car has only 13500 driving miles and for three occasions I had been with the brakes because its has the sticking problems (front left side and rear right side). Eventually the pads and calipers turned hot and brakes do not stop the car. The last time of this event the car was on an accidents and we went down on a hill and my car broke down the front part. I was reading in internet many people are having the same problems with Mustang from 99-04.
Failures in brakes system on Mustang gt 99 to 2004 the brake became freeze after a heavy transit and the car lost the stopping action. Ford inform me that we need to changes the brake oil but we changed oil, pads, line, rotors, etc and the car remain with the problems. In my case I lost the brake action and had a serious accident.
2000 Ford Mustang parked in driveway with emergency brake engaged. The driveway has a slight grade. Brake failed, and car backed out of driveway and across the road, striking a pole. Damage to left fender; broken taillight. The car was previously brought to dealer for the brake recall and supposedly repaired.
Is a big problem shifting in a gear after in first gear starts to sputter and shake believe it's the transmission manual 5-speed also engine overheating and knocking sounds vibrations coming from engine compartment brakes have always been shaky even if applied slowly and softly
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the ABS module malfunctioned, causing the ABS braking system to improperly activate. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was also illuminated. In addition, the traction control malfunctioned. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer but the dealer could not remedy the problem. The dealer advised that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the ABS module for the particular year, make and model was no longer being manufactured and an aftermarket part was not available. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Car parked in garage, in gear with emergency brake engaged. While unattended, car rolled down 200 foot steeply sloped driveway, missing other parked car, knocking down tree and rolling into drainage ditch this side and then the other side of street. No one struck, injured or killed, but daughter and baby coming home just missed being hit. Extensive body damage requiring minimum of 3 separate trips to auto body shop. Car is still not properly aligned and convertible roof needs more work. Concerned about recently announced Mustang recall for parking brake failures and safety of continuing to drive and park this car.
There were noises coming from the steering wheel and column. The dealer was unable to detect. The suspension creaks/pops while driving after a cold start, the noises fade after the vehicle is warm. The rack and pinion was replaced. The steering column collapsed on the consumers foot while driving and while head on with an 18 wheeler. The vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic. Dealer installed a new sector shaft. The brake pedal was spongy, the tires started to dry crack(the consumer was advised to keep an eye on), and the center console would not latch shut.
About 2 1/2 months ago my boyfriend was driving my car. He ask me if I had ever had the "brakes not want to work on me" I was driving and I came to a stop sign. There were 2 cars already setting at the sign. When I hit my brakes hard they did not go down as they normally would it felt like somethhing was keeping the brakes from working. I jerked the steering wheel to the right to keep from hitting the cars in front jumping a curb then it was like the brakes kicked in and started working and locked up.
Noticed car nose dived a little bit more when braking, plus extra distance required to come to full stop. Rear brakes were recently replaced due to the armature guide pin(s) in the rear brake caliper assembly becoming frozen. One pin in each rear assembly (the same pin in both). Extra braking stress put on front brakes required replacement of rotors due to loss of minimal thicknes (not due to gouging and turning).
Car was parked in driveway. Manual transmission was in gear and parking brake set. Driveway is approximately 30 degree incline. Auto rolled on its own approx 40 ft down driveway anh hit a tree. Ford failed to accept any defect responsibility in May. Today I read that Ford is recalling Mustang brakes and there have been no reported incidents. I have been unable to get Ford to acknowledge any responsibility.
