Driving down road at 45MPH, vehicle lost power, motor quite running. Due to being on 4 lane divided road, and cars all around, I quickly hit my hazard lights, put it in neutral and coasted best I could and was able to turn on a side road to safety. This was very dangerous. Dash lights were on, no warning lights, messages before, during or after event. Tried restarting vehicle and it cranked away. Figured out had to repush the push start button to keep it from cranking away longer. Towed to local Ford dealer. They determined cause to be Fuel Pump Driver Module failed, (explains engine stop since there was no fuel supply, and needed replacement. In addition I had another issue, they found water pump was leaking out weep hole. I then discovered they built the water pump into the engine block, behind the timing chain. …

Hello, I was driving my Ford Flex at 60mph yesterday with my 15 year old friend helping me move. The engine completely died for several seconds and continued running. That night the engine was idling rough which was a new symptom. Today, I made it to my destination and the car died, then it did not start after cranking. The Fuel pump module Aa8a-9d412-ca was faulty and now I am out $142+ from Ford to replace a part myself that is a known problem on the Ecoboost engines for this vehicle. This is a liability and I am seeking reimbursement for this known issue. Please issue a recall for this fuel pump module, everyone's safety is at risk that still has this faulty part installed that Ford has not addressed. Thank you for your time.

Failure of the vehicle to restart and idle. Vehicle began to slow down, wouldn't hold cruise speed setting, while driving on the highway; after exiting the Interstate in rural Colorado, it stalled completely. Dealer diagnosed a fuel pump control module failed and result is car only starts, short 8 second run, and shuts off. Replacement module solved the issue on my Ford Flex. Some Flex and similar models were issued recall for this item. Ford contacted, our Flex vin number is not on the recall as issued.

Approximately 2 months ago car would not start. Towed to dealer on Friday. Dealer evaluated it on Monday but car resumed starting. Retrieved car. This morning problem returned. Having already done a lot of research on this apparently common issue it seems most of the time it is the fuel pump control module located behind the plastic trim on the passenger side B pillar. A replacement part was acquired from a Ford Parts Dealer and installed into the car. Car starts and runs fine now.

We were experiencing an intermittent electrical issue where the vehicle would crank but not start every time. The vehicle was towed to the dealership on two separate occasions and the mechanic was unable to properly test the vehicle and/or recreate the problem. After some further research, I found a recall on slightly older VIN numbers for this model Flex. In August 2017 our Ford Flex stalled and would not start. We were going about 35 MPH on a country road. We had only owned it for a few weeks, having purchased it from varney Ford in newport, me. Had it towed to the dealer who kept it for two weeks and finally said it was fixed, blaming it on a broken shifter. He also reset everything by pulling a battery cable and his explanation sounded pretty vague. On nov 19, the vehicle cranked but refused to start in a parking lot. I had it towed to my local garage who has been very good to us in the past. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad fuel pump driver module and replaced it. The car has been fine since. I wouldn't be reporting except for the fact that EcoBoost Flex and taurus vehicles from the same year were recalled for failure of this module (NHTSA 16V621000, Ford recall 16s31). …
