2008 Ford f450 6.4l turbo diesel problems my wife truck broke down on her with 137000 miles on it coming back from south carolina in July 2016. Mechanics found metal shaving in the oil filter housing. Long story short, had to have the long block replaced on the truck. 15,000 dollars to fix this issue. Appears we are not the only ones who are having this issue. Three more people we know who just bought 2008 Ford f450 sd 6.4l trucks have had the same issue. One families truck broke down on them three weeks after buying it on there way home from a horse show. Same thing happen to the other family. Common factor in all three stories...metal shavings in oil filter housing. None of the trucks were low on fluid. Appears 6.4l engines having the same issues as 6.0l engines. …
My truck began cutting off on me while I was driving every now and then. Now it is doing it more and more. I had no idea what it was, so a couple of times I thought it might have been bad gas so I changed gas and starting using amoco gas and put fuel injector cleaner in my gas tank. That did not fix the problem. Now I am losing pressure while I am driving. I called Ford motors and they told me that my vehicle is not a part of the recall, but my vehicle is doing the same thing that is in the recall. I called the Ford dealership where I purchased the vehicle and was told that my vehicle was not a part of the recall and for $130.00 I could bring it in and get a diagnostic. There has been a malfunction indicator light on and the vehicle still stops on me on occasion. Please help before something tragic happens.
I just recently purchased my first 2005 Ford f-250 in August of 2012. This is the first vehicle that I purchased that was a Ford product. On August 13, 2012 I was driving my truck doing approximately 35 MPH when I noticed that I started to lose power on the accelerator and my vehicle just shutt off all of a sudden. The vehicle left me stranded and would not restart. I had to wait about thirty minutes before the vehicle would start again. I also smelled a strong odor of exhaust in the cabin of my truck. I then went to a local muffler shop and had them check my exhaust system. I was told that the truck had no exhaust leaks. I then started to research the symptoms of my truck online and found out that there were numerous complaints about the same issues that I was having on my truck. Since then it has happened to me on several more occasions making it very unsafe to drive my vehicle. …
Vehicle engine (6.0 diesel) unexpectedly and suddenly died while climbing a narrow mountain state highway, just in between switchbacks that had no shoulders; had enough speed to just clear road onto a shoulder. No warning lights, no check engine light had ever displayed previously to this incident. Vehicle would not start, towed to local Ford dealer. Engine teardown revealed loss of high pressure oil; and ficm failure and glow plug module fault by OBD and check engine light that now's continuously illuminated. Stc fitting replaced, declined ficm and gpm repairs due to cost and vehicle able to run to get it home. Check engine light remains illuminated. Research on the internet reveals these 3 parts, among others on the 6.0 engine, have extremely high failure rates, all resulting in an immediate loss of power and potential stranding. …
Engine,6.0 diesel was loosing water. Took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the head gaskets were blown and that the head bolts were soft and had stretched. This is a known fault with this engine according to the dealer. If it is a known fault, why hasn't there been a recall to fix this. I have never known an engine to have blown head gaskets at 104,551 miles. There are numerous service bulletins on this problem.
EGR cooler and oil cooler failed in a intersection. This is a safety defect . Looked problem up on internet and found thousands of the same defects with other f-250 diesel engines. Ford must recall before someone gets killed. I spoke with my dealership keeter Ford shelby, nc and they said they have replace over one thousand them selves on the f-250 diesel engines and agreed that this should have been a recall on all 2004 f-250 diesels.
My truck has spit out two spark plugs on the passenger side of the engine. These plugs had to be repaired with a hell-coil and this is a temporary fix. It cost me $400 to repair both. My truck has over 100,000 miles and spit out the first at 120,000.
I have a 2003 f350 superduty truck. It has a triton v10 engine. The spark plug blew out of the engine. This happend 2 years ago also. Forunately I was on surface streets and was not on the freeway which May have been fatal.
