What 2000 Ford F Super Duty owners say

Engine & cooling

For the second time in 10 years a spark plug has blown out of the head on the engine the second time being today July 13th 2016 my concern besides the fact that the spark plugs are blowing out is the possibility of fire gas papers being ignited by the spark plug on top of the engine instead of in the engine the first time it happened I was driving on the interstate running 60 miles an hour the second time it happened was this morning on the entrance ramp getting on the interstate

130,000 miles · Jun 2006

While driving in town, heard a noise in engine compartment, upon inspection, noticed spark plug blew from engine. A few years later it blew another spark plug. Repair shop inserted helicoil both times.

Wheels & tires

Travelling along alcan highway in remote Canada. We had tread seperation blowout on the driver side front that damaged the f350 dually. Tire size was 285/75/16 with around 20,000 miles on them. Tire was unusable and replaced with spare. Scrapped the rim as well due to damage when arriving in anchorage alaska. Do not trust these tires for long road trips.

167,000 miles · Aug 2016 · crash

I have previously complained to this site and the Firestone customer relations of my steeltex a/t tire cracking on the side wall. I was told to have them checked at a Firestone dealer and I was told the integrity of the tire was not compromised. On July 7, 2004, my family and I were almost killed (minor injury) when the right front Firestone steeltex a/t tire exploded, the tread separated from the tire as we were traveling 70 miles an hour on I-85 north. This is a bad product and I believe my suspicions were correct when I previously complained to everyone.

Steering

I was driving up the hill towards tacoma just off the bridge. Traffic stopped suddenly and I had to lock my brakes. When I locked them the truck would not turn either way until I let off the brake more. It seems when the tires are not moving very fast that the power steering will not work. It was a very scary situation and this is not the first time it has happened. I have a hard time turning in to parking spaces also when the truck is not moving quickly. This is a very scary problem as I don't believe I could steer myself out of an accident with the brakes applied.

Hydraulic power assist system · Jun 2001

I am experiencing a severe problem with the steering on my truck. When parked, stopped, or idling, I am unable to turn the wheels in either direction, regardless of surface. This is an issue of safety. I have taken it to the dealer twice and although they are helpful and sympathetic, they are unable to fix the problem. I do not appreciate putting my family in danger as we pull our travel trailer and might incur an instance where I would need my truck to be able to turn and it will not. I have contacted Ford motor company and am waiting for a reply.
