I have bf goodrich rugged trail t/a 275 70 r18 tires on my 2006 Ford f250 which were purchased 25 months ago and have 22000 miles on them. While towing my travel trailer I experienced a slight vibration while driving. I immediately pulled over and checked the vehicle and camper for ny visible signs of a problem. Everything a appeared to be in good working order so I continued on driving slower. After about 10 miles the tire completely blew up damaging my vehicle and sending the tread of the tire across the other lanes traffic which almost caused a major vehicular accident. I thought it was bad luck. I changed the tire and continued down the road. After approximately another 200 miles I started getting the same vibration from the rear drivers side tire. Fearing another blow out and having no spare tire I pulled over and spent the night in a campground. …

I purchased this vehicle with a full set of the exact same tire brand, type, size, and load range. The new tires were to replace the defective tires which had the exact same problem as these: belt failure. Tire failure: belts began to separate leading to uneven wear and eventually failure of the sidewall.

My wife and I were driving my 2006 f-250 super duty on hwy 95 when my truck felt like I was in an earthquake. It was the worst violent shaking I have ever felt in a vehicle. It felt like all four tires exploded. So I fought my steering wheel and brake pedals to slow the truck down to finally skidded off of the side of the road, while cars are going by us 70 plus mile per hour, everything inside the vehicle fell off of the seats the drinks in the cup holders went flying. After seeing that all four tires seemed fine and that we did not hit anything on the road, we were scared to death to drive again. After visited the Ford dealership the next day, they are still trying to figure out what is wrong with the vehicle, they said it was the tire balance and pressure, but there is no way this would cause such a violent death shaking experience. …

Tl contact owns a 2006 Ford f-250 superduty 4x4. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact drove over a bump and noticed that the vehicle would bounce and veer to the left or right. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they placed a "bottoming out kit" in the vehicle. Afterwards, they lowered the air pressure in the tires and advised the contact to keep it at that set pressure. The contact noticed that the vehicle shook violently when driving on turnpikes and highways. He had no control of the vehicle unless he slowed down or stopped the vehicle. The condition worsened as the vehicle became older. The contact scheduled another appointment with the dealer. He had not spoken with the manufacturer. The current mileage was 3,016 and failure mileage was approximately 8,000. Updated 03-06-09 the tire had a leak due to a defective valve stem. Updated 03/11/09.

Tl contact owns a 2006 Ford f-250 super duty. While driving 70 MPH, the steering wheel shook and made a rattling noise. The contact had difficulty controlling the steering wheel. In order to stop the shaking, the vehicle had to be slowed down to a minimum speed of 50 MPH. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The failure has occurred four times. The dealer stated that the air pressure in the tires caused the shaking. The contact received a letter, which stated that his make and model vehicle was experiencing issues with the steering. The vehicle will not be repaired because it is not under warranty. Ford is aware of the failure, but refuses to issue a recall. The failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 64,000. Sept. 2010,my 2006 SD f-250 Ford tire,withoem17"alloy 8hole wheel ,exploded violently in my driveway. Discovered inside of rim had cracked and peeled along tire bead allowing tire to blow. Rim and tire had to be replaced, it even blew off the rubber stop block on the frame for axle to hit. Used truck so assumed it was previously damaged. Close inspection showed other wheels were OK. June 2011, shimmy in front end, discovered other front wheel cracked in the same way and close to failure. Local Ford dealer says no recalls. E-mail to Ford Canada got no response. I have pictures of both wheels. This is my follow up. Please check your wheels. For their safety, have your tire dealer inspect wheels when replacing tires.

2006 Ford f250 superduty crew cab 4x4 with factory 20x8 alloy wheels. Rt front wheel cracked with no impact. Crack is aprox 10" long and runs just below the bead for about 10" did not loose air. I was turning rt and felt a strange jolt kind of like the tire rolling off a small rock. Only felt it once. Continued driving to work. Later inspected the wheel and found the crack. Dealer says there is no recalls on these wheels. Called Ford customer relations to be told they could not help. There are a number of postings on similar wheel cracks on internet forums. It appears to be an ongoing problem on these trucks in the 85000 mile range. ## VIN failed ##
