The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the instrument panel went black. The horn failed to be as loud as designed. The contact also stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH and making a left turn, the turn signal failed to activate. The contact stated that the instrument panel was black during the failure. The contact stated that before the failure, the Bluetooth Sync system had failed, and the contact believed that was when the failures started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The instrument panel and the touch control panel screen were replaced. The contact stated that after the repairs were completed, the back over prevention alarm was not as loud as before. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. …
The contact owns 2022 Chevrolet Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and activating the turn signals, the turn signals would temporarily blink excessively fast, which indicated a turn signal failure. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. No service was performed. Additionally, the contact stated that while the adaptive cruise control mode was activated, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and nearly hit a pedestrian. The contact stated that he had not engaged the Resume button at the time of the failure. The contact also stated that while reversing, the rearview camera was inoperable. The cause of the failures were not determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 6,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that after reversing, the rear-view camera displayed a rear-view image but failed to turn off when the vehicle was shifted back into drive(D). No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the rear-view camera. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V315000 (Back Over Prevention), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 67,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at various speeds, the pre-collision warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that no failure was found with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
General: While driving this rental vehicle over the span of three days, I noticed and confirmed over a dozen times that the vehicle's speed control would dramatically increase with NO driver input or actions. Specific: The vehicle's cruise control would be on and active, set at various speeds; 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 (long, straight road with varying speed limits). In different circumstances (sometimes when being overtaken by another vehicle, or cresting a hill or when beginning to climb a hill), the speed control, while set would immediately, with no driver input other than light steering INCREASE to 15-30 mph above the speed at which the cruise control was set. …
Since purchase in 2022, the vehicle has experienced repeated failures of multiple safety systems. These include frequent warnings that "Pre-Collision Assist is Not Available," repeated failures of Blind Spot Detection with Cross Traffic Alert, Tire Pressure Monitoring warnings, and messages to "Check 12-Volt Battery." These system malfunctions occur intermittently and unpredictably, creating unsafe driving conditions. In addition to the warning messages, the rear liftgate has failed to latch properly and on at least one occasion opened while the vehicle was in motion. This poses a serious hazard to vehicle occupants and to other drivers on the road. The safety risk is significant because these systems are designed to prevent or mitigate crashes. Their failure leaves the driver without critical safety features, and the trunk latch defect could cause loss of cargo or injury. …
My Expedition has adaptive cruise control. I was driving on the interstate at around 65 mph with the adaptive cruise set. I was raining, so I set it to max range. It worked fine for the first few minutes of rain. As cars started to slow down, mine sped up and put me in an extremis situation where I had to forcibly apply the brakes. It was following the car in front of mine fine at around 55 mph, but then sped up despite the car getting closer as if there wasn't a car there. Only after I applied the brakes did I start getting an error that adaptive cruise and collision assist were not working due to a sensor being blocked. I've driven in rain many times and have never had this error. As far as I can tell the forward sensor failed due to moisture and instead of the adaptive cruise turning off, it actually caused the vehicle to accelerate since cruise was set to 65 mph. …
When slowing down to turn into a parking lot my car suddenly experienced sudden "phantom braking". I was going slowly and I wasn't braking. My car only has automatic braking when cruise control is on. Cruise wasn't on. The car suddenly braked hard and chimed twice. My car has a collision warning system but that doesn't chime like this. I didn't see any dash warning lights, it looked normal by the time I looked for warning lights. I coasted into the parking lot because I wasn't even sure if the engine was running. I couldn't find anything wrong and everything has seemed normal since then. When it braked, I had my foot above the brake pedal because I was getting ready to brake further as I turned. When the phantom braking happened I felt the pedal move. It suddenly depressed then and sprung back up. I believe I was going less than 20mph.
Receiving Front Camera Malfunction Service required warning. Also receiving pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency break system warnings. Other systems likely disabled. Found that there was a TSB issued for the same year but on the F-150. DTC's C1001:31, U3000:89, U3000:49. This issue is likely caused by faulty cable connections where condensation has caused corrosion making the system inoperable thus creating a major safety issue for owners. I took the Expedition to SawGrass Ford in Sunrise FL and they confirmed that the issue was due to the electronics/cables. The camera itself was not dirty or blocked. They charged me $250 for a diagnostic and then wanted to charge me $2500+. For the safety and security of all owners please investigate and hold FORD accountable for this.
Since purchasing this vehicle in January of 2023, it has been to the dealer three times to repair a failed blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert system due to corroded pins in the connectors of the sensors. According to the dealer, this is due to the connector utilizing only four of eight pins which leaves four pins unused and open to corrosion. On the third trip in, the dealer applied, "super glue" to try and prevent any future corrosion. While there was not a specific accident related to this, I do believe this has the potential to cause issues in the future if not properly addressed by Ford. See attached pdf from dealer for additional supporting information.
