The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, it was discovered that the fuel tank was not completely secured to the vehicle and was hanging down from the subframe. The failure was caused by a corroded subframe attaching the fuel tank straps to the vehicle. Both fuel tank straps had failed due to the subframe corrosion. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN and vehicles from the state of Kansas were not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V160000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 149,000.
the shifter began changing gears on its own. Before the recall came out my mechanic checked and there was no recall for this until 2018. I was never notified of the recall. Then on rear axle pinion nut. The nuts were installed without the proper amount of adhesive. Consequently, the nuts can loosen, and cause the rear axle to lock up, causing a loss of vehicle control. I was never notified of and the rear end came down while on the freeway. The fuel tank began leaking I repaired this before the recall came out. I submitted a reimbursement request they denied me stating my car was over 7 years old.
Gas tank straps causing fuel tank to drop from under truck. The Chrysler recall 18V160000 or U04 covers this problem but they tell me my VIN is not included in the recall.I live on the Outer Banks of NC and we at times have salt water standing on the side of the roads.and this is the same problem in this recall. I am Deputy Chief of the local fire department and we have 4 of the trucks and all have the same problem also. My truck has 150,000 miles on it and is well taken care of. This truck has a NC DOT inspection every year.
Heating & ventilation, I have lost heat in my truck, issues with fuel pump/filte where truck won't start, and had the water pump had to be replace. I believe the majority of the things listed had recalls. What is included in the recalls and can a recall be replaced more than 1x?
Fuel tank retaining strap detached from frame cross-member causing fuel tank to hang unsecured under vehicle causing potential catastrophic consequences! Dodge dealership states frame structure rusted due to bad design, manufacturer failed to design a moisture drain into the boxed frame which caused the strap attachment point to give away. Dealer states non-repairable ** non-driveable! Fiat Chrysler automotive customer assistance refused any assistance in rendering any type of resolution. No concern regarding possibility of having fuel tank falling from vehicle. I mentioned later year production of same model has a new designed cross-member. This substantiates a known failure/design flaw. I am requesting NHTSA to please investigate and issue a safety recall. A <7 year old vehicle should not have a frame structure rust to point of rendering vehicle unsafe and undriveable. Please help! …
My wife was driving the vehicle home with the kids inside when she heard a dragging noise. Once at home she noticed something hanging below the truck. When I arrived at home I checked the truck and found the fuel cell hanging down because the frame had rotted out and the strap pulled away from the frame. I contacted my local Dodge dealer who took pictures and submitted a claim to Dodge who then said the problem was no longer there concern. They explained to me the vehicle was over the 100,000 mile warranty and it was not a safety issue. Mind you that its a plastic fuel cell with a metal strap creating sparks that had it been punctured would have certainly ignited with my family inside the vehicle on a road traveling at 70 miles per hour!!!! …
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 35 MPH, the front fuel tank strap loosened causing the fuel tank to partially detach from the vehicle. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road, where the fuel tank was temporarily reconnected to the vehicle with a nylon strap. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician diagnosed that the fuel tank frame rail was completely corroded. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,200. Updated 09/02/15 the consumer stated as of 8/3/15 Chrysler offered to re-purchase vehicle at msrp. The frame rail rusted where the front fuel tank strap attaches to the frame causing the tank to dislodge. The dealer was unable to repair the vehicle. I purchased this vehicle in the fall of 2014. Immediately I began having difficulty filling the fuel tank. The fueling system would continually click off time and again while trying to fill the tank. I did some research and found out that several Chrysler products had this problem with the filler neck. I also learned that Chrysler knew of the problem and had published service bulletins on this but did little to nothing to help the consumer. Even with a discount I had to spend $709 to replace the neck. I am not asking that they do a general recall, but if someone had a problem they should step up and rectify the situation. This is my fifth Dodge Ram, but the first time I have sought for Dodge to step up and help.
While driving to work I heard a strange sound underneath my truck. I pulled off the road to have a look and noticed the strap that holds the gas tank detached on one side and the front of the fuel tank was hanging down. Apparently the strap support in the frame rotted out. The rear strap attachment also seems to be corroding. I hate to think what would have happened if both straps detached at the same time with a full tank of fuel. I temporarily strapped the tank to the frame, using a ratchet strap, and brought the truck to the dealer. They confirmed what had happened, not covered under warranty, and said I had to take the truck to a body shop to be repaired.
My 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 gas tank almost fell out causing almost an explosion of tank. Reason: the tank is held in by two metal straps one side is attach to a frame bolt the other side of the strap is a t shape that slides into a t slot in the frame now what happen is the t section pulled right through the frame causing the tank to drop almost to the road the remainder of the strap was hitting the driveshaft causing sparks if the plastic tank hit the ground it could explode. Dodge rep had mention to me this is a common issue. So I think there should be a recall on this issue...updated 08/07/17
