Tl* the contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While pulling out of a car wash, the vehicle was shifted into drive with the brake pedal depressed. The vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot were it was awaiting inspection. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. Updated 05/16/17
I've been having problems with the brakes of my 2000 Sebring shortly after I purchased it from star Chrysler in glendale ca. It only had 14,800 miles on it. I'm the second owner. I can't really hit my brakes and they wear out really fast. Chrysler did nothing about this. These brakes are defective, unsafe and poorly designed. I constantly have to replace them. It's very frustrating. I have to put my car in low gear to go down hills and off ramps so the brakes don't wear out. Also, my sending unit disabled at 84,000 miles. I now have to count the gallons of gas and track the mileage so I don't run out of gas. Very dangerous. Chrysler again did nothing. This is a computer related and should not have failed at 84,000 miles. My distributor failed last week at 107,000. This should not have failed. …
I was just driving my Chrysler Sebring 2000 this afternoon when the brakes failed completely. I was lucky to be in a parking lot when this happened and I don't want to imagine what would have happened on a highway! There was no warning at all, no light coming on, nothing, and the brake pedal just collapsed completely. I will have to take the car to the garage on Tuesday. I wanted to know what I can do about that to be sure this does not happen again....it's scary to think that you can drive a car 65 miles an hour with suddenly no brakes at all!! I was just very lucky this time!
Drivers seat does not latch properly , was taken into dealer and wasn't fixed properly. Rear defrost does not work was taken into dealer and was told that it worked because the light on the switch turns on but it still does not defrost, front brakes make squealing noise must put new brake pads on every 2 months because the rotors get too hot and the pads get glazed , car has been taken in at least twice for each of these and the problems still are not fixed.
After repairing the brakes eight times manufacturer was notified, but did not offer assistance because of the warranty. Every four months the brakes, pads, and rotors have been serviced or replaced. The consumer was told by Chrysler that her vehicle could not be repaired properly and preprare to fix her vehicle every four months.
Brake failure, brakes felt soft and made a whistling noise. The vehicle brake pads were replaced due to wear and the rotors were turned. The horns fuse blew when the cigarette light was used.
Dt: the contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The vehicle was purchased on 5-27-05. The dash lights did not work at night. One week later the battery went dead. The battery that was in the vehicle was the original battery from the factory. Then, the brakes failed. In addition, while driving the serpentine belt broke ,and the engine will have to be replaced. She contacted the dealership, and they told her that they will get her an extended warranty for the vehicle even though she purchased it without an extended warranty. . They will not tell her what was wrong with the vehicle which was at the dealership. They did tell her that the engine was out. The consumer felt that the dealership did not do any safety checks. Chrysler told her that it appeared that the car was never looked at the dealership. …
Left front outboard brake pad apparently sepatated from the backing plate while stopping in a parking lot. There was no advance warning noises. When completing a stop, I felt a pulse in the brake pedal. When I returned to the car and started home the brakes were grinding very bad. Icontinued home slowly and the next morning pulled the wheels and brakes in the garage. The left outboard backing plate had no braking material at all. There was no residual as is usually present on a worn out pad, just the rivets and backing plate. The pads have wear indicators that hadn,t given any warning so I think it was a sudden failure. Except for an early brake job I had no real damage(brake warranty is 12 months12k). Hopefully this is an isolated incident but I am notifying ntsb in case any trends develop.
The front brake inner pad came apart all at once and caused the brake pedal to feel as if it sank to the floor. A loud grinding sound was heard and we parked the vehicle. Upon investigation, I found the inner pad lining completly missing and the plate rivits gouging the disk rotor. Maybe the lining was cracked and it finally let loose? I didn't hear any of the associated "squeaking" you normally hear when disk brake pads are getting worn. The outer pad looked good. $300.00 later, I have new front brakes.
We leased a 2000chrysler Sebring convertable brand new. This past November we bought the vehicle. We have 30000 miles on the car and with no warning at all our brakes were gone to the point that the 2 front drums had to be replaced and the rear passenger drum had to be replaced. We have owned many cars and never had to replace drums and very few times had to replace brakes. We had no loss of brake pedal and no squealiong or grinding at all. They have been checked each time it was int he garage.
