Owner reports
Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 1999 Chrysler Concorde owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
I found five recalls on the safecar.gov site, yet I have never been notified of any of them. In approximately 2000-2001, I had a failure of the driver's seat, while trying to move the seat back for more room, where the back fell all the way down to a reclining position. I was not able to make it stay up. The dealer at the tme repaired it at an approximate cost of $1,100.00. Sometime later, I read in the newspaper later about a recall for the seats, and took it to joliet Dodge, joliet, il, who is now out of business. They refused to do anything, telling me I had already had it fixed, and refusing to reimburse me for the cost to repair. Fast forward to July 2014. When trying to move the seat back by using the lever for that and pushing back with my body, the seat back totally failed again. It goes all the way down, and will not stay up. …

Recall service for driver seat bolts was performed in 2003. While leaving a stop light the driver's seat unexpectedly reclined fully. The driver regained control of the vehicle and no accident ensued. The driver suffered muscle strain in lower back. No other damage or injury. Dealer initially agreed to cover repair, but three days later changed position and will not cover the repair.
Dt*: the contact stated the driver's seat was fractured. A NHTSA recall, # 03V035000 was performed on the vehicle concerning, seats: front assembly: recliner on 9-23-03 however, the recall did not remedy the problem. The dealership would not offer a second repair under the recall. 08/29/06 the right rear stop lamp blub had to be replaced and both front wiper blades were replaced.
Consumer had the driver's seat repaired according to NHTSA recall campaign 03V035000 for the reclining seat position. Now the passenger seat broke and collapsed back. The back of the seat was stuck and would not come up at all. The passengers unable to sit up in a regular seated position.
Brakes continuously lock, which causes tires to lock and the car skids and pitches forward. Our door locks are broken and the bottom portion of the back seat is coming out from the floor. When we purchased the car, we asked the salesperson (tim white) if the car was in good condition and if this was a rental car. He said" it had one owner." when I repeated this to the manager last week, he said it did. He stated that the owner was the rental company in florida. Then I pointed out to the manager that one owner did not mean one driver. With it being a rental car it has had many drivers some not so careful as others. If I had been inforrmed of the cars true history and condition, I would never have purchased this automobile.( dot number: )
Tl* the contact owns a 1999 Chrysler Concorde. The contact stated while driving at approximate speeds of 55 MPH, the front drivers seat would recline backward without driver intent due to a bolt snapping. The contact received notification of a recall (NHTSA campaign id number: 03V035000: seats: front assembly: recliner) and took the vehicle to the dealer for repairs. The dealer advised the recall repair was previously performed on the vehicle and the manufacturer would not cover the cost of a second repair. The failure persisted. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 58,000.
The consumer received 3 recall letters on the vehicle since ownership. In every instance, the consumer contacted the local sales and service dealer for a remedy. The dealer advised the parts were not currently available and stated they would contact the consumer once they arrived. The consumer was never contacted by the dealer for the remedies, so the recalls remained open. The most recent recall involved the seat belts.
Alarmed to see other consumer complaints of similar problems with the steering and failure of rack and pinion and front end suspension. Also, we have replaced the sway bar links. We have repeatedly had problems with A/C erratic operation as other consumers reported. Fully alarmed by numerous fuel throttle and seatback collapse problems reported. R&p steering unit replaced. Steering was real loose.
