Owner reports

Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 1999 Chrysler Concorde owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

The molding between the hood and the windshield flew off as I was driving in the freeway. I was driving like I normally do ( approx. 65mph), when fwy is clear of cars; this is not reason enough for this car part to fly off. Luckily, fwy was clear, if not, I could of had an accident since it affected my visibility while driving. Once I replace this, I wonder if next time... Will I have an accident? How to ask they install it so it doesn't fly off? Dealer says they must install it per manufacturer requirements but the normal way it comes from manufacturer doesn't work cause it eventually flies off. I noticed there are countless complaints regarding same issue with NHTSA. How many complaints are necessary for it to be recalled?

Car has popping sound around left front wheel, all but one window is off track and cant use.have to bang key on end to get it to turn ignition over.car shakes when braking.wont stay in alignment.uses oil from first day we bought car.when windows did work they snapped shut loudly.this is a smooth riding car but has way to many problems.also the tv cable broke and had to be replaced which was the only component that wasnt covered on the warranty.kinda strange since the car wont budge without it..I am sorry I ever bought this car.I am paying for a vehicle that will be trash by the time it is paid for.

I own a 1999 Chrysler Concorde lxi. I have had numerous problems with this car since I have owned it. Lot of little things. Window motors, cooling fan, transmission overspeed sensor, and the list goes on. Now the air conditioner is going out, having to service it about every 2 months. Why I am writing though is the steering. Seems like it is going bad. I feel this is a safety issue and read many complaints on your web site concerning this. Why hasn't a recall been ordered for this and the speed up issue?

This is the message that I sent to Chrysler corporation on 4/8/2003. I am having a problem with the items below. The car is a 1999 Chrysler Concorde lxi. I purchased it used sept. 2002. I currently have 46201 miles on the car and by looking at the information on you website see that I am not the only individual to have these problems. My rear driver's side window is not working. It worked when I purchased the car, but now it doesn't even go down. I am having it replaced, but am not happy that a car only 3 years of age has such a problem. I have already done my research and have realized that I have purchased a car with numerous problems. Also, the front passenger door lock mechanism (actuator) also has to be replaced. It is currently making a very loud pitched noise when activating the locking feature. The unlock doesn't make the noise. …

Vehicle was inspected by Chrysler special investigations, was informed that no association was made in any manufacturing or assemby system defects. Throttle cable was not binding and was operating normally, hoses in tact per Chrysler. Referred to my insurance agency to file a claim. Car max the dealer where I purchased the car offered no assistance as well. …
