Rented a Chevrolet Venture van from avis in flagstaff, az on 10/30/04. The following evening (after dark) as my wife was attempting to exit the vehicle through the power sliding door her hand became caught behind the handle. Her elbow was pinned against the seat back and her wrist and thumb were broken. Her middle finger was also injured. She will be in a cast until at least 1/20/05.
While the contact was driving 30mph the driver side rear door had suddenly slid open. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and the contact noticed beforehand that the door would not open electronically. The current and failure mileage is 69250. Bml
Power door close even when someone is in between door and fram and open with out much effort by the handle on door. I called GM customer service line about my complaint and was told there wasn't a recall. I told them about the recall at first they said there wasn't a recall on the Venture vans again. After about a few days of being toldt that the recall didn't exist. I called NHTSA and your customer service gave me the campaign information which I gave to GM customer service. I was told that I would have to take my van to be check by the GM service people. I'm in the process of doin consider I have to get the hub bearing and the sender switch on my van fixed first. Mind you I haven't had this van a year yet! …
Tl contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. The right passenger side door opened intermittently. Also, this failure occurred while driving 25 MPH. The door was closed manually and the failure continued to occur, and has occurred while the vehicle was parked. There was a technical service bulletin that included a check list. Several dealers have cleaned the contacts on the door which didn't correct the failure. The dealer maintained that the actuated control modules could be the cause. However, they were unable to duplicate the problem. The failure mileage was 13000, and the current mileage was 32239.
Sliding doors on Chevy Venture van keep opening , van is unsafe for kids or anyone to ride in the back because we aren't sure if the doors will open up . Dealership told us to drive the van until doors open again so they can find the problem, I can't keep anything inside the van because you think the van is locked up and you leave the van and come back and the sliding doors are open again. This also has done this while driving the van too. The dealership unplugged the remote to see if this was the problem and told us they didn't see a problem yet , so drive the van until it happens again and bring it back in. We have 3 kids, and I don't want to see my kids hurt because a door slides open while driving. I would like them to have there kids drive around in the van until the problem happens again. …
Dt: received a recall for 2003 Chevrolet Venture. Husband took vehicle to dealer to have the right hand sliding door handle replaced. When husband brought vehicle home consumer got inside and closed door with power button and then manually tried to open this new latch handle and it would not open. Consumer felt that the electrical power has been switched out from this unit, the only way one can now open door was through power-not manually. Feels this was more of safety hazard now. If the electrical system failed or in the event of a crash it could not opened manually. Very upset with the recall remedy that was provided.
Air conditioner condenser failed, GM new of the problem in December, 2002, but kept their mouth shut until the warranty expired. The gas gauge does not work, it flips from full to empty, I have to keep a mileage notebook in order to know when to fill up. My warning light on the dash continues to flash "rear hatch ajar, side door ajar, low brake fluid." there is nothing wrong with any of the items. The front brakes went bad at 32,000, requiring new pads and rotors. The window button on the driver side will put the passenger window down, but not up. The rear window washer does not work. I am so glad that GM is going bankrupt. I bought an American car, to try and help the workers stay employed, but now realize that all I did was to keep some overpaid, lazy slobs on the job for much longer than they should have been employed. …
Tl contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Venture. While driving approximately 25 MPH the rear passenger side automatic sliding door opened on its own. The contact noticed the door had not latched and had returned to the open position. The failure occurred intermittently and over time it would not latch at all.
