On or about July of 2005 we noticed our driver brake was putting off the redish dust signaling a need for new brake pads. We bought new pads and my husband went to replace the pads. The pads on the driver side were shot and needed replaced. The pads on the passenger side were brand new! There wasn't any use off them. We purchased the van in nov of 2004. The van has always had noise when coming to a stop. I had it explained to me, from a service tech at a local Chevy dealership, as my brakes are pressed but my van still has the motion behind it to allow the rotor to cont. Turning, till the complete stop. This noise is really noticeable at higher speeds needing to stop. The van at times doesn't feel like it wants to stop. I fear its just a matter of time before it doesn't. We have had several people look at and they all say it looks OK, but don't like the sound it making. …

There was excessive wheel noise variation when applying the brakes. The first time the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer was February 21, 2005. The ABS light was fixed and brakes were fixed. Then April 19, 2005 the vehicle was taken back to the dealer again because the ABS light illuminated the brake noise returned. The problem was checked and fixed. Now for the third time on May 25th the vehicle was taken to the dealer with the same problem (ABS and break noise). Now for the third time the problem was fixed. Driver was turning at traffic light at low speed, 200 ft from her home. When turn was complete, driver was unable to return steering wheel to forward position, nor was she able to stop the vehicle using brake pedal, until the vehicle crashed into another one parked along the street. Driver was unable to explain how it could happen, and the accident was considered her fault. However, the latest GM recall regarding weakness of ignition key mechanism provides logical explanation of this accident. If the ignition key flipped to "off" position during the turn, power steering and power braking would be gone, and what driver described would make total sense. Especially taking into account that at that time the driver had several additional keys on the keychain. Is it possible that 2003 Chevrolet Venture ignition mechanism May suffer from the same problem as ones recalled by GM?
2003 Chevrolet van purchased new 6/23/2003 from randy marion Chevrolet-Pontiac-Buick, inc., mooresville, nc 28115. Problem: squealing brakes. I have had this van into the dealership on five separate occassions in the past five months to have the brakes repaired. The dealership keeps my van from 2 to 4 days to 'make certain the problem has been corrected'. The brakes have not been correctly repaired. Various service tickets state, "clean, adjust, applied anti-seize on rear backing bplates; beveled edge of brake shoes, and readjuste: clean and adjusted rear shoes and applied anti-squeal'. The brakes continue to squeal each time I press my foot to the brake. I am greatly concerned for my families safety. …
Constant problems with ABS/AWD system. This van has been at the dealer 13 times and going to be 14 soon for the same issues. In only 18 months. Hubs have been replaced both on my ownership and prior to my ownership. Wiring harnesses have been repaired and the problem remains. Now just driving the ABS computer activates, as well as now when you stop the computer keep activating for about 3 seconds after complete stop. GM has been notifyed and can not respond for 6 days. It is only a matter of time before the system causes a complete brake system failure, will this happen before someone forces a repair? Or will it wait until somebody is critically injured or dies? I would like to think that the government could jump in and not waist time doing so. …
Air conditioner condenser failed, GM new of the problem in December, 2002, but kept their mouth shut until the warranty expired. The gas gauge does not work, it flips from full to empty, I have to keep a mileage notebook in order to know when to fill up. My warning light on the dash continues to flash "rear hatch ajar, side door ajar, low brake fluid." there is nothing wrong with any of the items. The front brakes went bad at 32,000, requiring new pads and rotors. The window button on the driver side will put the passenger window down, but not up. The rear window washer does not work. I am so glad that GM is going bankrupt. I bought an American car, to try and help the workers stay employed, but now realize that all I did was to keep some overpaid, lazy slobs on the job for much longer than they should have been employed. …
