I was going through a drive-thru, and left the parking lot. When I stopped at a stop sign I heard a chime, and a ' traction control off, service traction control, and service stabilitrak' lights came across the screen on the dashboard as well as the traction control light. So I drove back toward my job, and about 3 miles down the road, my car started to shake and the rpms started to go up!, so I started to drive to the dealership I bought it from 3 months ago, and they didn't have any appointments for today, so I left and made an appointment for tomorrow. As I was driving back to work, the car started to shake and decline in speed, this lasted about 2 minuets and then went back to normal, I parked my car at work, and went back in for 4 hours. When I came back out, all the lights were off, and it drove fine home. …

It's happened more times than I can count. Definitely over 10. I'm driving my Traverse, on the highway or in town, and then my car goes crazy. Bells begin to ding and dash lights come on. The info center tells me to service stabiltrack and then I get a reduced engine power warning and I cannot go over 25 MPH. I pull off the road or off the side of the highway, turn on my hazard lights and shut off my car. After a few minutes I turn my car back on and everything seems fine but the engine light stays on. It's done this with every driver in my family. I'm absolutely heartbroken. My family has been loyal gmac customers since before I was born and I was proud to keep up the tradition but this car has made me look at other car manufacturers. My 2004 GMC envoy is more reliable than this car. …

My wife was driving with our three children traveling approximately 60 MPH. Her 2014 Chevrolet Traverse suddenly dropped to approximately 5-10 MPH and she was forced to swerve off the road, nearly being rear-ended and seriously injured or killed. The check engine light came on, as well as, the engine power reduced light. Just as she made it to the shoulder of the road, the car shut off completely. She tried multiple times to start the car, but had no success. After about 30 minutes of being stranded on the shoulder of the road with my three children, she was able to start the car and drive to the nearest area to safely wait for a tow truck. This is the third time this has happened within the last five months! We have taken it to several different mechanics, including the Chevrolet dealer, and spent a lot of money trying to get it resolved but have had no success. …

I recently had my 2014 Chevy Traverse in to my mechanic for maintenance, as I do when needed. After maintenance was performed, I picked my vehicle up and it drove just fine for five maybe ten miles, no issues. I was on the highway and suddenly the "service stabilitrak", "traction control off", and "service traction control" messages began flashing. Immediately after, my vehicle began jerking profusely as I was driving - it slowed the speed, and eventually quit. The messages were still there. A few more miles down the road, it began jerking again. I don't know what is going on with it but I took it back to my mechanic and he's had it since then (this was days ago) and he's having a hard time pinpointing the issue. However, I see many other Traverse owners whom are experiencing the same dangerous issue, with no resolve. …

On more that one occasion but most recently on 03/16/2018 I have driving my vehicle and I get the first message of, "service stabilitract". The next message is, "traction control off". It is then following by, "engine power is reduced" and my check engine light comes on. The vehicle then decelerates to 10-20 MPH. This has occurred to me twice while on the highway travelling in excess of 60 MPH.(not while accelerating). This has occurred while accelerating from 0 MPH, 30+ MPH, 60+ pmh and decelerating from 60+MPH, 30+MPH and from 0 to 30 MPH. It has occurred while turning a corner, driving in a straight line. The dealership said to bring the vehicle in after an incident without turning off the vehicle. I have not been able to drive the vehicle without ever having to stop and turn off the vehicle. The power steering is almost non-existent after reduced engine power occurs. …

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle suddenly jerked and stalled. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and pulled over to the side of the road. When the vehicle was restarted, the contact heard a revving sound coming from the vehicle and it began to shake. The contact stated that the engine power reduced and traction control warning indicators illuminated. After pulling over to the side of the road, the contact turned the vehicle back off and waited a few minutes before they were able to turn the vehicle back on with no warning indicators illuminated. The failure occurred a total of four times. During the fourth failure, the service stabilitrak indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, but they could not diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. …

Highway speed, hit moderate pothole and received multiple error messages in the display "engine power reduced" "service stabilitrak" "service traction control". Engine barely running/running rough. Brakes have no power assist. Vehicle struggling to maintain 20mph and hard to get off the freeway. Appeared to be complete ECU malfunction. Had to abandon car in a public parking lot and have someone pick us up. Vehicle was towed to local dealership and yet they can find no fault codes, thus releasing the car with no work performed. This phenomenon has been documented on youtube here: [redacted] note: this is not my video, but is the exact scenario I encountered. Similar video documented here: [redacted] many other instances documented on the internet in various vehicle forums and across other GM platforms. This is an unsafe condition that should be a better investigated issue by Chevrolet. …

This report is related to a known and widespread computer glitch in late model GM cars. The glitch seems to be triggered by other system faults when the car is in motion causing multiple failures rendering the car unable to maintain speed over 20 MPH or so and also affecting the braking system. Please watch this video https://youtu.be/hbvaoiixnxy and then read the comments. This has been going on for years across a variety of GM models including the 2017 Traverse. It is a major safety issue as the cars become seriously incapacitated when the glitch occurs. There is no clear failure occurring and there are no faults recorded in the car's modules making it very difficult to diagnose and repair. If we didn't have the video I took to prove it was happening the dealership would have sent us away again. Please watch the video, everything you need to know is in there. …

While driving at a speed around 25-30 MPH the vehicle had multiple issues arise at once: 1.) the vehicle started shaking violently and accelerating independently with engine RPM's reaching as high as 6000. The vehicle continued this and would jump from around 2000 RPM to 6000 RPM and continue to accelerate on its own; 2.) error message, failure, and complete loss of the traction control system; 3.) error message, failure, and complete loss of the stabilitrack system; and 4.) error message and failure of the park assist system. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and shut off for a few minutes. When restarted the problems reoccurred and the vehicle required towing to the nearest Chevrolet dealership. This is not a unique problem to one Traverse. …
