I'm having a problem with I believe it's the fuel sensor my truck gets up to a certain temperature and it just dies and it's not just my truck it's in a lot of the newer model Colorado's as well I have a friend who's having the same exact problem as I am when it gets up past 95 degrees, the truck just all of a sudden stops in the engine turns off, and you have to try and steer your truck without any power steering, the reason I am filing this is if this happens in the middle of the road it could possibly cause an accident and that would be no good and it only happens when it is hot outside in the winter time or when it's cold I have no issues whatsoever
I purchase this vehicle in April 2015 (used) I drove the vehicle home and it registered a half a tank of gas, I drove it a few days and the gas gauge needle did not move. I notified the auto center where I purchase the vehicle and took it back for repairs. Five weeks after the repair the gas gauge is still faulty. I was driving on the highway and the vehicle shut down (out of gas) the gas gauge needle read a quarter tank of gas. I contacted the auto center where I purchase the vehicle and I was told the S10 and the GMC model of this vehicle has a history of faulty gas gauge's. My only recourse is to have this item repaired again without any guarantee the same problem will happen again.----2001 Chevrolet S10 fuel sdystem, other bulletin 13599---action number 10001283 report date mar 01,2003 thank you [redacted] '

Fuel gauge is not calibrated properly and apparently can t be. The extended cab s-10 ls models have 19-gallon gas tanks standard. The gauge reads full when full but seems to gauge my fuel consumption faster than I am really using it. It was most concerning the first time the light came on. I thought at first I was getting about 13 miles per gallon when half of my driving is highway. When the gauge gets down to the 1/8 tank line the fuel light comes on. When I go to the station the tank will generally take only about 13 gallons meaning there is 6 remaining in the tank. It has been consistent since I bought it and over the almost 40,000 miles I ve driven it. I still don t trust it completely and use my trip meter to gauge its accuracy. Generally I just make it a practice to refuel when the light comes on. I know I have about 3/8 of a tank remaining when that occurs.
My 2001 s-10 pick up stalls when driving down the road. Acts similar to investigation pe02-066. Took vehicle to dealer and explained problem. They could not find anything wrong. I still have the problem. Truck was out of warranty when taken in had 44,106 miles. Shouldn't the dealer been aware of your investigation and possibly looked at this filter?. I think you should reopen this case, I think that there is a severe defect in their design. Tomorrow I am going to dealer armed with information from your website and I am going to put up a stink about this. Please take another look at this case. Thank you. Sincerely, robert a. Wright.
Inaccurate fuel gauge reading at 1/4 tank or less. Since June 2001 (3,000 mi.)have complained to Chevrolet about this problem. Items replaced include sender/pump assembly. Gauges, fuel level sensor, j3630 module. In May 2002 service manager informed me this was a "self inflicted" problem, that I kept throwing it in neutral, and they were done with it. Embarrassed, I did not follow up on any more complaints. As of this date, still have problem, vehicle has over 50,000 mi. Noticed that others have had this problem, too.
Tl*- the contact stated thatthe 2001 Chevrolet S10 should be able to use flexible fuel. When the vehicle was taken to the dealership they advised contact not to use e85 fuel. The dealership refused to inform the contact of the consequences of using e85 fuel. The dealership advised contact if e85 fuel were used they would refuse to repair vehicle. The vehicle currently had 100000 miles. There had been no failures to date.
1)motor mount broke. 2) day after purchasing used vehicle for dealership, truck was in gear and top speed was about 15mph for about 50 foot. Engine would die then have a hard time starting. Happened for 30 miles. After that, after running engine for more than 1 1/2 hour, the truck would die. I have to pull over and let it sit for a few seconds before it will start again. Happens numerous times.
I have been very lucky and not killed in an accident, my engine stalls due to fuel starvation. Investigation pe02066 , I have had tune up new spark plugs, new throttle control sensor, and another sensor, fuel injectors, throttle body and still the truck does the stalling out. I feel that is a problem with the truck, and a real safety hazard. This is a daily occurrence .
Gas gauge does not work (reads empty at all times now). The vehicle was taken to the dealership where it was purchased to have the problem fixed while under warranty (under 35K mi). There's a reoccurence of the problem. In one ocassion a close call collission in a highway was barely avoided due to the innacurate gas gauge reading.
NHTSA investigations
Engine stall due to fuel starvation
Odi opened pe02-066 to evaluate the scope and consequence of engine power-loss due to fuel starvation induced by in-tank modular fuel pump strainer restriction.the subject pumps use an external ?sock? Strainer to filter fuel flowing to the pump inlet.this filter can sometimes become clogged, resulting in a reduced flow of fuel to the engine.GM has subsequently modified the strainers to reduce this…
