Stabilitrak control system I am contacting you about the safety hazard of the stabilitrak control system malfunctioning on our 2014 Impala lt Chevrolet. On November 7, 2016 I was driving from my home in perfect weather conditions and the car suddenly would not accelerate properly. The vehicle information center read 'service stabilitrak' and 'engine power reduced'. Then the check engine light went on. I called GM customer service and the local Chevrolet service center felix Chevrolet to schedule servicing on the vehicle. I assumed the repair had corrected the problem. Then on March 7, 2017 in perfect driving conditions the same thing happened when I was leaving for an appointment. The vehicle information center read 'service stabilitrak' and 'engine power reduced'. Then the check engine light went on. I immediately returned home and called GM. The car was towed to felix Chevrolet. …
I've had an issue with my 2014 Chevy Impala ltz getting locked up when turning the steering wheel. This started a few months ago, I took it to the dealership but they were unable to recreate the problem. The first incident occured 09/2017, I was driving on the highway going 60 MPH, upon switching lanes it felt like the steering wheel jammed and locked for a second and the electrical power went out on the radio and dash. The alerts then said "power steering drive with care' & "front camera' or something to that effect. This has happened various times since on city streets, another message I've seen has said something about stabilitrak. The most recent episode occured on 12/25/2017. I was driving on a city street and turned right and the steering wheel jammed and the radio went out and the same messages came up, I took a video this time so that the dealership can see what the issue is. …
Power steering was lost, stability light came on - was told this was due to erosion - had repaired at my cost - extended warranty would not cover as techician stated my fault although apparently this area is not visible during normal service. Now the car twice has not started at all - all electronic sensors go dead. Have taken to Chevrolet dealer and they are unable to determined what is wrong. At least every other time I turn on car, the stability light or steering light come on, as well as the park assist light. I wait for about 10 minutes or so, try again, and they May or May not go off. 2 - the rear view mirror fell off during the first month I purchased, so it was under warranty and they "re-glued) it several times - finally it was recalled, and replaced about 15 months ago, now the mirror is doing the same thing again. …
The vehicle had water damage from 'clogged sunroof drains', which cause water to run all down the side and back panels causing an extensive amount of damage from one horrible design flaw. Some of the things effected was electrical company's such as electronic parking break was engaged and would not release cause the vehicle not to move! Next was corrosion on several other inside wires having to do with steering and possibly air bags, but who knows if they will be effective until there is an accident and it's too late to find out if they are dmamged. Other safety features such as side detection was corroded so it too malfunctioned. There was a lot of other electrical things damaged but the car is in the shop and I don't know what else could be a huge safe concern. There is now so much mold which is dangerous to be breathing in if not totally replaced. …
I pulled into my garage and cut of my car. After opening the door my seat wouldn't move forward like it always does. That's when my dash board gave me an error message stating that I need to roll my driver side window down. So, I did that but the next day my navigation system was off along with my radio and on-star system. So I drove to the gas station before heading to work, and when I tried to get in my car the power was off. I went under-hood to see if the battery was loose but it wasn't. So I shut the hood got back in the car and everything including my radio, GPS, and on-star came back on. I headed out to work and that is when my car shut off while I was driving on the freeway at 70 MPH and the error message said warning no power steering. …
While driving and accelerating to get on the highway the electronic stability control "stabilitract" light popped up on the dash screen and reduced the engine's power, reducing my speed to a maximum of 30 MPH when trying to accelerate to the posted 55 MPH speed limit. I was traveling in a straight line when the "stabilitract" & "engine power being reduced" information popped up. The car would not go over 30 MPH. This caused me to have to pull over and nearly caused an accident due to the slow nature of the vehicle, even with the emergency flashers on. This is several incidents with this particular car, having electronic failure. The worst of it was when the collision sensor was affected by a leak in the car after having to have the windshield replaced due to the rear view mirror falling off. That incident caused the car to slam on it's breaks due an electrical error. …
On 12/21/16 while merging onto interstate 10 in tucson, az, the vehicle was going approximately 65 MPH when a "engine power reduced" sign popped up, the vehicle slowed down to 30 MPH without warning and shifting down through all gears nearly red lining the rpms and causing an rear-end collision. Was able to move the vehicle off the freeway and took it into local auto-zone for testing. The test came back as a "throttle sensor malfunction". The vehicle now doesn't feel safe to drive, and will not accelerate over 45 MPH without shaking and feeling like the transmission is going to give out. Called the local Chevy dealership and was told the cost was going to vary between $400-1,000 with a $100 test fee up front. I've also read numerous similar issues online from people driving Chevrolet Impala from 2006-2016. …
The car shuddered on initial start-up, turned it off waited for a minute. Restarted ran normally. The next day on start-up dic alerted to ABS, powersteering, and stabilitack in need of service, noticeable difference in steering control, wheel slippage on quick exhilaration, I tried to brake more cautiously so as not to test my braking ability. Definitely a safety issue. Should be recalled. Had the same problem a year ago spending $495. To have the opposite wheel hub and brg assembly. Hope this isn't an annual event. Love my car but hate expenses that should not occur with a car; especially under 100,000 miles. Why did this happen? There is nothing to blame it on such as hitting a pothole. The weather has been colder, there has been a reference to that as well as some say it is a wiring harness that is in a bad location, wearing exposing wires that make contact with metal. …
Mileage: 89000 customer received a letter from GM stating an extended warranty is now available regarding the side blind zone detection system error that displays over the entire dash display panel. The warranty was extended to 6 years from the date vehicle was placed in service and 80,000 miles. Many of the vehicles affected by this are experiencing this issue at just over 80,000 miles or have gone past 80,000 miles due to GM's lack of a timely response to this issue that has affected several people. The service side detection message appears upon starting the vehicle and remains to block the digital info center until it is dismissed by the driver who has to move the thumb to press the button. This message also re-appears after driving for several miles causing the driver to look away from the road to acknowledge the alert. …
I have filed a complaint last month about my 2014 Chevy Impala's side detection system, back up camera warnings, and forward collision systems all not working. Today I am adding that while driving on the freeway in moderate rain doing 55mph, my stabilitrak light came on, ABS light came on and I lost power steering. I did not lose control of my car, but it could have been bad. I called Chevy as soon as I got home to file a complaint. I will be bringing it to the dealership tomorrow as I have read other complaints of this happening as well with the next thing to go is the car won't start. This situation is uncalled for in a vehicle with 45,000 miles at a price tag of $35,000, especially when the other issues started happening around d 38,000 miles. Before today, when I started my car the service lights for front camera, park assist, and side detection all lit up. …
