The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light or stop sign, the vehicle experienced severely rough idling before it stalled. The contact believed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) was the cause of the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.
I have had my vehicle for only a year and bought it used from a dealership here in town. I understand that the vehicle is nearly 12 years old though I have seen vehicles that were way older and not have half the problems that I am having with mine and it has been well keep and maintenance has been up to date. Early this week my car had been warming up for nearly 30 minutes and I put it in drive and it jerk harder then normal. I just thought it was because it went from hot to cold outside overnight that that was the problem. Though as I was driving down the street my check engine light came on and the vehicle was stalling in between 35-40 mph. So I got it check out and the code said that it was a transmission shift solenoid. …
I purchased this vehicle back last year and I put a lots of money into the engine and having troubles with it I'm just now finding out this type of vehicle I have has been recalled and I'm trying to see is there some type of way I can get it fix without coming out of my pockets like I already had engine light still on after I got the part put on and I don't have money like that to keep getting it fix I have low income and trying to take my kids to school sometimes I be afraid to drive cause it keeps cutting off in middle of traffic problems with the catalytic converter and 02 sensors I change everything and still having trouble and out of money can somebody please help me no incidents just a recall and bad motor
Engine cylinders & seals are faulty and easily crack causing the car to STOP /STALL WHILE IN DRIVE! I NEARLY HIT A SEMI-TRUCK BECAUSE THE CAR STOPED MID DRIVE AND THE CAR JERKED SO HARD THAT THE WHEEL JERKED TO THE SIDE AND THEN LOCKED!! AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO GLIDE IN A CIRCLE BECAUSE IT DIDNT STOP ALL THE WAY I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL TO AVOID THE SEMI, WHAT SAVED MY LIFE WAS THE CLEAR ROAD THAT ALLOWED THE SEMI TO GO AROUND ME!! MY CAR LITERALLY SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET ACROSS THE YELLOW LINE! This issue persists and corrupts the ENTIRE fuel system, catalytic conveyer, resonator, and timing chain SIMULTANEOUSLY! This causes each owner to replace the entire engine because it simply can not be fixed. Fixing or repairing one of the components does NOT fix the issue or stop the engine from failing, all must be replaced! …
There is a current recall in place for the timing chain and fuel pump in this vehicle. Both items were replaced at 30,00 mile and now 107,000 miles later the same problem is occurring and both of these items need to be replaced again and instead of GM recognizing the recall they say that they can only provide $300.00 towards the repair cost of the vehicle. GM says we have exceed the mileage for the repairs to be done at no cost and want to charge us $2200.00 for the repair of the vehicle. The recall number for this is (12313). The poc at jack evans dealership in front royal va is [redacted]. The only assistance the dealership worked out with GM towards the repair of the vehicle was $300.00. …
Car was dying when I tried to pull out onto the road, city street from a stop sign.was almost hit. My grandaughter is just learning to drive and I am scared to death to let her drive it . Running after key taken out, running very ruff. Check engine light kept going on & off as well as stabli trac warning.smelled like catalytic convertor burning took to dealer to have diagosed and they said high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. Engine had high content of fuel scanned and had excessive amaount of rich codes and misfire codesthat there was fuel getting in my oil said there was a recall but not on my VIN. Saw other complaints same problem that were told VIN wasn't right. Cost me $500.00 to fix bought this car brand new and had to get a new engine at 62,000 and new pistons & cracked manifold replaced at 102,000. …
After refueling vehicle, I noticed a strong gas odor that did not go away for several days. I took the vehicle the a Chevy dealer who identified the problem as a cracked fuel tank connector, as shown in the attached photo. Apparently GM has recognized the issue and has since redesigned the part, as shown in the second attached photo. This vehicle has under 80K miles, has never been in an accident, nor had any other incident that would have caused the part failure. The failure appears to be a stress crack due to a defective, over-stressed, poorly designed, or poorly assembled part. In short, this part should not have failed. Furthermore, the failure represents a dangerous situation, due to the fuel leak that occurred. The repair was on the order of $1500, because the dealer indicated that both the gas tank and filler neck needed to be replaced. …
I had my Equinox repaired under the recall for oil consumption, yet it is still burning oil. The heat and ac are not working properly, to get heat I have to turn the dial back and forth and maybe it will work most of the time I have to drive about a half a mile for it to blow heat. The ac is just not working at all. The info panel in the center of the dash will go out and come back on later. While driving, the car will just slow down like I'm not pressing the accelerator at all. The transmission seems to get stuck in a gear causing the rpms to rise and stay until I take my foot off of the accelerator. The car makes a clicking sound when turning. It shakes at 60 MPH. Also I have replaced headlights 2 times in the last year.
A year after I purchased my used Equinox my water pump went out. While at the dealership they realize that my opinions have been worn and my timing chain needed to be replaced. Less than 6 months after my engine light popped on.. This car has been unreliable almost the whole time I've owned it. Last March I replace the timing chain again. After much research I realize that my timing chain keeps getting destroyed because the high pressure fuel pump is leaking gas into my crankcase. Chevy has put out a recall for my make and model vehicle but my VIN is not listed. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be listed especially since I am experiencing the same symptoms that is listed in the bulletin.
