What owners report

Radio/infotainment system display goes full bright even during night and cannot be dimmed and destroys the drivers night vision and can only be reset by stopping the car and cycling through reverse, to activate reverse camera. Also, reverse camera operation puts screen in full bright, which at night makes the display too bright to use, and distracting to the driver trying to safely operate the car in reverse at night. This appears to be a problem with all 2016-2018 Chevrolet Cruze with the 7' mylink infotainment system as can be seen in the active online forum discussion of this issue: https://www.cruzetalk.com/forum/393-gen2-audio-electronics/223897-how-dim-7-mylink-display.html general motors fix is to put the car in reverse for 13 seconds after stopping and back into drive. This is after six months of dealing with this. [redacted]

Right after I purchased the 2017 Chevy Cruze I noticed a small delay with the wipers when they were in downward motion but really didn't think anything of it. However, a month later I'm driving on the highway in the rain the wipers froze in the upward position! Probably one of the most terrifying experience I've had. (note: it takes very little rain to completely block visibility when driving) thankfully I was able to get into the right hand lane and was able to get us off the road. The wipers remained in the upward position for 15-20 minutes before finally reacting the wiper lever.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while opening the driver's side front window and the passenger's side front window, the cable snapped, and the window fell inside the door. The power windows became inoperable. The message to open and close the window was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on three occasions, where it was diagnosed that the power window regulator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed there were no recalls on the VIN for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

The windshield wiper transmission failed on my '15 Cruze in the middle of a rain storm caused my Hurricane Ida. The problem has been confirmed by my husband who is a mechanic at a Chevrolet dealership. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem were present prior to the onset of the problem. It had been raining a lot due to Hurricane Ida, the last time I used my wipers they worked fine. When it started raining again I tried to cut my wipers on and only my driver side wiper worked. My passenger side wiper stayed in its downward resting position and did not move or make any noises.

The heater blend door actuator and or lever gear for the blend door actuator that controls the windshield defrost failed and this raises a major safety concern as it strictly limits your visibility. This is becoming a known issue on the Cruze as i have seen and heard of the problem repeatedly online in the cruze forums. This needs to be seriously addressed to general motors and be taken care of. Plus the cost to fix it is over $1,300.00 as the entire dash needs to come out. Please address this safety concern.

Thin, weak plastic used for gears on A/C air distributor lever. See part #53 in the attached partsdiagram.jpg for reference. This lever is located inside the dash, and is used to divert airflow to windshield/defrost. Cold weather causes this plasic to break when attempting to engage windshield/defrost airflow. This makes it impossible to get warm or dehumidified air to the windshield, which causes ice or fog to build up and results in unsafely diminished visibility. Issue occurred while vehicle was stationary and idling to allow windshield to defrost. Airflow was adjusted to blow to the windshield, and the distributor lever broke as the gear teeth engaged. See attached brokenlever.jpg for reference. Vehicle was approximately 3 years old at the time of the break. …
