What owners report

The heater and defroster failed to generate heat. No events leading up to failure. This fall when we needed the heat and window defroster just luke warm air was coming out. The intake hose to the heater was hot the out take hose was cold. This failure causes a major safety issue because the front window will not un-fog and the ice and snow will not melt off the front window. The driver can not see out of the front window. There is no warning to this problem. Research this problem on the web and there are numerous other people and vehicles with the same problem. It appears to be caused dex-cool coolant. The first problem is that our car was not fully painted, you can see that primer in large areas all over that body of the car. Second problem is the back cargo door will not lock. Third problem is the electronic sets on driver and on passenger side will not move and are stuck in the same position, also seat warmers do not work. The fifth problem is that the transmission is leaking fluid.

I own a 2001 Chevy Blazer. Lost heat in jan. 2004. Took it to dealer. They flushed the system and replaced thermostat. 3 to 4 weeks later the same thing . They cleaned out filter. 30 days later it happened again. They said the filter was clogged again. As the weather warmed up I didn't need the heat. As the colder weather approached again, used the heat 2 times and the 3 rd time the heater core went out completely. When I returned to the dealer there were about 10 other blazers there for the same reason. They say it is our problem now. Now without heat and have to keep air conditioner on and still smell coolant inside the vehicle. If there is that many vehicles with the same problem then , I would say it was defective parts used. To replace the part is almost $200. And with labor over $600. To have to put out that kind of money on vehicle that is only 3 years old is wrong for consumers. …

The handle that allows you to recline the seat broke off flushed with the seat, this happened to both the driver and passenger seats in June 2005. The hood will not pop up when the lever was pulled until one banged on the grill or the hood in certain spots, which just started in March of 2007. The gas mileage dropped from 20 mpg to 16 mpg within 6 months. The back glass stuck and was hard to open, started in 2006. When turning on the air conditioner (A/C ) the car had no power, I have to turn it off when accelerating on the interstate or on hills. If the cruise control was set it kicked off when the A/C was on. The air conditioning compressor was replaced by the dealer on Friday June 25. After the repair the vehicle was driven approximately 20 miles that day. On the following day the vehicle was driven an additional 25 miles and returned home. After leaving the vehicle parked in my driveway, I was summoned from my home by a neighbor who reported that the vehicle was on fire. We extinguished the fire in the engine compartment and had the dealer remove the vehicle for repair. The dealer informed me that the fire was not caused by their repair. Damage to the under hood equipment required $ 4,500 in repairs.the repair work took over four weeks.
