General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Cadillac XT4 vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature. The video processing module (VPM) may lose communication with the rearview camera, causing a loss of the rearview camera image.
Remedy: Dealers will update the VPM software or replace the VPM, as necessary, free of charge. An interim owner notification letter informing owners of the safety defect was mailed January 17, 2023.
Seat belts › Rear/other › Retractor
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2021 Chevrolet Malibu and 2019-2021 Cadillac XT4 vehicles. The rear seat belt retractors may be improperly secured with loose or missing fasteners.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the rear seat belt retractors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 17, 2021.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Cruze and Buick LaCrosse, 2018-2020 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, 2019-2020 Buick Encore, Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Acadia, and 2020 Cadillac XT6 vehicles.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020.

Engine & cooling
Recently went to my local Sewell dealership for my routine oil change. With an oil change they do a complimentary multipoint inspection. During the inspection they noticed that my camshaft carrier was leaking and needed to be resealed. The resealing of the camshaft carrier would be around $4,000. I don't have that kind of money laying around especially in this economy. I just got a new place and I can't Afford to spend $4,0000 right now. I did some research online and apparently this is a common issue with Cadillac cars. I reached out to other Cadillac owners and they advised me to submit a complaint with the NTHSA due to the frequency of this issue across Cadillac cars. Will there be some type of reimbursement/recall to fix this issue because if it happening across multiple Cadillac cars no matter the make or model, this should be on GM/Cadillac to fix and not the consumer.
The throttle and accelerator pedal is very HOT- highly sensitive, resulting in jerky lunging upon start off in 1st gear from a dead or 1 mph stop. The vehicle has been into the dealer 2 times for this issue with the same repair comments, vehicle meets all factory specs and all XT 4 react this way- well that's not safe. If that's the case, then this is a design defect which is unsafe as the accelerator pedal reacts to quickly with a non-smooth action and lunging which could cause a rear end collision. Other car evaluators have also indicated the XT6 has a jerky accelerator, just like what I am reporting. It may be the TPS -Throttle Position sensor in combination with the APS-Accelerator Position sensor. Sometimes it is so violent it throws occupants backward into the seats. Dealer says within spec. GM needs to solve this issue.
Transmission & drivetrain
In September, my vehicle would not start. I had it boosted and it started right up. The very same afternoon , it would not start and had it boosted. Drove it for 2 days without issue and on day 3 it would not start and boosting was unsuccessful. The vehicle could not be put in neutral and needed to be towed. The car spent several weeks at the dealer and I was told it was the battery which I replaced the key FOBS needed to be reprogrammed and then the wiring harness was chewed up. After several weeks at the show and over $1,000 later the car was returned. A month or so later , the car wouldn't start, could not get boosted and had to be towed back to the dealership. After 2.5 weeks , I was told it was corrosion on the wiring harness. I'm concerned that these issues will persist and I could end up stalling in the middle of the highway, Vehicle only has 31,000 miles on it.

Lights
The contact owns a 2019 Cadillac XT4. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger's side daytime running lights became inoperable. The passenger's side daytime running light warning light was illuminated. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin No. 19-NA-184. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed the contact that there was no repair coverage on the vehicle for the failure. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the headlamp needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 89,750.
The contact owns a 2019 Cadillac XT4. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact exited the vehicle and became aware that the daytime running light was out on the driver's and passenger's side. Neither the dealer nor an independent mechanic was contacted. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
