I have a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta and within the past 2 months my driver side window just fell down into the door. There's little plastic clips that hold the window on track and they broke. But you cant buy those clips, you have to buy the whole door assembly. 2nd yesterday, oct 6th, my passenger window just fell down into the door, and again, the same thing. I search alot of vw related forums where people around the nation have the same problems and have file numerous complaints with vw and complaints with consumer affairs. Why hasn't vw issued a recall for these clips? I cant afford the outrageous prices to have both of my windows fixed so I have them taped with duck tape to hold them up. Please look into this and figure out why nothing has been done about this. One woman said she had her car in the shop 8 times and they keep breaking. You can verify this through consumer affairs. …

Glass, side/rear · 120,000 miles · Oct 2007

Transmission failed. The dealer replaced the part. However, two weeks later the part failed again. The vehicle would not go into reverse. The transmission slipped and the vehicle had run into a pole at a gas station on the right front side. This problem remained the same. The engine light had come on along with the transmission problems. Other problems were: the tire pressure had to be reset on numerous occasions, rear pads, A/C was not cooling, glove box, power windows, console, power sunroof, interior trim, steering/suspension, driveability, trim electrical, sound system, and heating/cooling. The consumer did not report any damage to vehicle when she hit the pole.

When raising the passenger side window up, glass drops into door panel and will not come up. Makes loud grinding noise when pressing button to raise window. Dealership replaces window assembly and says they "goodwill" it to me with no charge - even though this was still under warranty and I should not have been charged in the first place. Dealership does not have part in stock and I have to drive with a trashbag taped where my window should be in rainy weather during my 30-mile (one-way) all highway commute to and from work. The only window I ever operate now is my driver side window and only as necessary. Very costly and dangerous window situation.

Vehicle suffered a lost of power when check engine light illuminates. On March 7 2002 university vw discovered a defective airflow meter. The windshield was replaced for a cracked rain drain. The brake servo was changed for a pin hole air leak. Consumer was told that the glow plug harness might be the cause as to why the brake lights come on. The hazard switch switched on and off distressing other drivers behind. Replaced the hazard relay switch (on the dash) by myself. Back brake pad wore down to the rivets. Vehicle overheated on 3 occasions had pressure test and thermostat changed and problem still exist.

Most recently, the water pump failed. Apparently this is another common failure, which should be covered by a recall. Here is the list of other problems I have had: -both window regulators failed (covered by recall) -tensioner pulley on serpentine belt failed at 40000 miles ($400) -maf sensor at 47000 miles (covered by recall) -catalytic converter failed 50000 miles (covered by emissions recall) -alternator failed at 55000 miles ($450 - using rebuilt alternator) -water pump failed at 60,000 miles ($350 repair bill). The question is...what's next? I plan to sell the car within the next few months.

2000 Jetta (vw) 2 weeks ago my passenger side window broke and bought new regulator and had fixed. Today my drivers side window broke. 60K on vehicle and I think this is absurd. Vw should recall all units manufactured with this regulator. I will be going to dealership tommorow to see what they say.

On three occasions my driver/and or passenger side windows fell into the doors. Vw fixed them at no charge...after much arguing. Ever since I first bought the car (brand new), my car is down 2 quarts before the 3000 mile oil change. Vw says that this is normal.I don't think that is right.
