Symptoms include the vehicle unlocking and immediately re-locking, auto-unlock failure, and difficulty entering the vehicle. All four door handles were previously replaced under the recall (Feb 2025), but the malfunction recurred. On 01/26/2026 I delivered the vehicle to a Volkswagen dealer for recall repair; it was fully drivable at drop-off. During the recall-related software/coding procedure, the dealer reported the procedure could not be completed because the software would not accept the currently installed headlamp modules. On [redacted], my 2022 Volkswagen I.D. 4 burst into flames and exploded while it was parked in my apartment complex parking structure ([redacted] ). My car was completely engulfed in flames, nearby cars as well as the parking structure experienced heat damage. My life and others were put in danger because even though my car was electric, it was parked in a resident garage near other cars who are gas operated, which could have caused an even more catastrophic damage if the fire would've spread more. Dallas Fire Department was present, and a fire report was conducted (Incident number #[redacted]). I am writing to report two concerning safety issues with my vehicle: Repeated Door Clicking During Car Wash: On multiple occasions while driving through an automatic car wash, I have noticed that the car doors repeatedly click, as if attempting to unlock or open. This erratic behavior occurs despite no input from the driver or passengers, raising concerns about the vehicle's electrical system and its reliability under normal operating conditions. Speedometer Malfunction: More critically, the instrument panel, including the speedometer, has gone completely black while driving. The panel remains non-functional for 5-10 minutes before rebooting on its own, leaving me unable to see my speed or other critical driving information during this period. This issue poses a significant risk to my safety as well as the safety of others on the road. …

My 2021 ID.4 has experienced two separate incidents of sudden, unintended forward acceleration while parking. In both cases, I was maneuvering at very low speeds (less than 5 mph) and transitioning from a stopped position, or from reverse into drive, with the intention to move forward only a few inches. But instead of creeping forward as normal, the vehicle suddenly jerked forward approximately one foot. In the first of two incidents (approx. October 2025), it crashed into the car in front of me. In a second incident (3/14/2026), it crashed into an EV charging station. This is a safety concern and may be related to steering wheel capacitive touch controls, possible unintended activation of adaptive cruise control (ACC) or "resume" function, or erroneous or overly sensitive input from the steering wheel control module. No warning signs or messages appeared prior to the failure. …
