What owners report

My vehicle was parked at my home around the last week in January and the 4th of February 2017. When I started my car it didn't sound like it normally does and the engine light came on. I opened the hood and found a squirrel underneath and had a lot of debris. I found the coverings chewed off the wires some wires chewed into and some hoses chewed. The injector wires were chewed to the #6 injector causing it to run very slow uphill. The insulation under the hood, outer cover was chewed off and part of the insulation. I have lived here many years and not had this problem with other vehicles except one other vehicle at the same time this happened. Since then I can't keep the squirrel out from under the hood of my vehicle I check it often and there is more debris under the hood sometimes but not as much as before. …

Purchased a brand new 2007 Toyota Camry Solara in March 2008 with 22 miles on it. Beginning in 2014 while driving the vehicle, the passenger headlight would go out within 5-10 minutes of driving. By turning the headlights on and off, the headlight would stay on. Beginning in 2015 while driving the vehicle at night, the passenger headlight started going out after 3-5 minutes operation and I would turn the lights on and off and the light would stay on for another 3-5 minutes. I replaced the bulb, only to find the problem was reoccurring. Had the fuses checked by a mechanic'they were fine. Had the wiring checked, it was fine. …

2005 Camry Solara · Nov 2023

My passenger airbag indicator was illuminating the "off" light when an adult was seated in my passenger seat. Diagnostics done at a Toyota dealership indicated I needed a new occupant detection ECU. It failed for unknown reasons. This was a $670 fix. They installed a new one and it did not work. They then installed another one, which did not work properly either. Finally, they installed a third one and it wasn't working properly either. I was told by the service guy that they were using parts that had "returned" stickers on the box and had already been opened. I was told that genuine, new parts were what I was being quoted for, but the service technician clearly stated that they were trying to install parts into my vehicle that had been returned for some reason. I am very concerned that Toyota is installing parts into my vehicle that were found to be defective in other vehicles..? …

I was driving to work on the wi 43 freeway (speed aprox. 70 MPH) at 2:00 am of 09/28/2020. I smelled something burning and saw sparks coming from under my dashboard. I pulled over to the side of the freeway and called 911. Two ozaukee county sheriffs and 1 port washington fire truck responded (incident number 20-27928). As you can see from the attached pictures which were taken the next day at the towing yard my car's dash and interior was totally melted by an electrical fire that was so hot it cracked the windshield. Although the car has some age on it, this is not something that should ever occur while driving down the highway. Fortunately no one was hurt. The car had to be totaled as it was beyond repair.
