With no reason the engine will cut off, leaving me with no power to steer or move. Have been to numerous repair shops and they can not find the cause. I think it is the electrical switch that needs to be replaced. The cost is approximately $ 500.00. Will general motors pay for this? Should this not be on the recall list? This is highly dangerous as someone could hit me when it stalls.

I ran up a curb to avoid rear-ending a vehicle and a part called the power steering cooler hose (gmpart # 26074657) was damaged, causing the loss of the power steering fluid and therefore the loss of power steering. This part is no longer available from GM, the part is flimsyly installed with retainers that do not secure the hose properly. Over time the hose could dismount from the retainers and anything that hits it could cause a loss of power steering. At the moment an otherwise good vehicle is disabled due to the lack of this part. Can you help?
Tl* the contact owns a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled multiple times intermittently while traveling various speeds. The steering wheel was extremely difficult to handle when attempting to make a left or right turn. The key had to be pushed into the ignition due to the fact that the key was not fully secured into the ignition and was also difficult to insert. The contact had to shake and apply force in order to push the key in the ignition when the vehicle stalled. The service engine sensor light illuminated intermittently on numerous occasions. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop where a mechanic diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
After rounding a curve and seeing a deer and thinking how lucky I was that it didn't jump out in front of me, my engine died and I lost control of the vehicle. It went off into the drivers side ditch and hit a field driveway culvert with the divers side tire, which ultimately bent the frame and totaled my car.. However, the airbags did deploy and I had only a minor injury. My elbow went through a drivers side air vent. Since my car is totaled and the recall sounds like it was the cause, can I get my car fixed or some kind of compensation? I had a lot of keys on my car ring as a work for the city.
On 1/15/2013, I attempted to start my car and nothing happened. I had to have my car towed to Firestone, 302 w. Michigan ave, jackson mi. 49201. [phone]) they diagnosed the problem as a faulty ignition lock cylinder, and it was replaced. They had to reprogram the passlock system, as well as having to recode the ignition cylinder. Mileage was 124,550. My bill was $435.95. As there was not a recall out at that time, I am requesting reimbursement for a faulty part manufactured by GM/Oldsmobile.
Tl contact owns a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While driving at an unknown speed and making a left turn, the contact heard an explosion that shook her vehicle. She lost control of the steering, the battery warning light illuminated, and smoke was present underneath the hood. A relative, who is also a mechanic, stated that the fluid on the manifold caused the vehicle to begin smoking and the steering knuckle fell off of the vehicle, which could also have caused fluid to leak and smoke to appear. A few months ago, the contact heard a high pitched sound in the steering wheel. Prior to the failure, she noticed an oil leak and the dealer replaced the pistons. The VIN was unavailable. The dealer and manufacturer have not been notified. The failure and current mileages were 137,000.
I have a serious problem when I turn left! Sometimes it will and most of the time I have to break a sweat. I had the power steering pump replaced and the problem still is there. I have found several different complaints and recalls of GM vehicles that have rack and pinion deficiencies. To get my rack and pinion replace it will cost me $600 for the part and ten hours of labor. Due to the fact that they have to remove the engine just to get to it. Now, I m a sergeant in the us army and I am stationed in Germany. The closest thing I have to GM is an opel dealer. I spoke to Oldsmobile and they say that they do not have any recalls or complaints about the rack and pinion on file. This is bs. Look at the NHTSA web site and you will find hundreds of them. Or just search for olds Intrigue steering problems. I take care of my car and I keep up the services. …
