Tl* the contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While driving approximately 10 MPH, the vehicle did not kick into first gear until after driving approximately three blocks. The contact also stated that the security system lock. Additionally, the brakes jerked and failed to stop the vehicle right away. The ABS indicator illuminated and disappeared. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The mechanic showed the contact how to temporarily lock the security system from the trunk until the ignition switch was replaced. The failures recurred several times. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the brake failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.
With no reason the engine will cut off, leaving me with no power to steer or move. Have been to numerous repair shops and they can not find the cause. I think it is the electrical switch that needs to be replaced. The cost is approximately $ 500.00. Will general motors pay for this? Should this not be on the recall list? This is highly dangerous as someone could hit me when it stalls.
Anti lock brake light came on. Service engine soon light came on. Oil low light came on. Traction control light came on and switch inoperative. Heater/defroster fan switch inoperative. Interior/exterior air switch inoperable. Air bag light came on. It was raining. The next morning when car was started all lights were off and car seemed OK. Mechanic used scanner and found no error codes. On line search indicated that is could be do to ignition switch. Thus, I think the recalls for this switch should be expanded.
After rounding a curve and seeing a deer and thinking how lucky I was that it didn't jump out in front of me, my engine died and I lost control of the vehicle. It went off into the drivers side ditch and hit a field driveway culvert with the divers side tire, which ultimately bent the frame and totaled my car.. However, the airbags did deploy and I had only a minor injury. My elbow went through a drivers side air vent. Since my car is totaled and the recall sounds like it was the cause, can I get my car fixed or some kind of compensation? I had a lot of keys on my car ring as a work for the city.
Tl contact owns a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While backing out of the driveway, several lights illuminated on the instrument panel, including the antilock brake and traction control lights. Currently, the lights remain illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an authorized dealer and they stated that the hydraulic unit failed. The contact researched recalls on her vehicle and discovered that she was experiencing the same failures described in NHTSA campaign id number 00V114000 (service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components). The dealer stated that her VIN was excluded from the recall and she would be responsible for the repair costs. The vehicle has not been repaired. The speed was unknown. The failure mileage was 73,800 and current mileage was 73,907. Updated 07/29/08 updated 007/29/08
Dt*: the contact stated on start up, the vehicle sputtered and stalled. While driving 30 MPH, the engine overheated, the check oil light and traction control lights illuminated, prior to the engine power failing. The brakes squeaked badly as the brakes were applied. The vehicle was taken to the sales/service dealer for repairs. On the first visit, the thermostat and thermostat housing were replaced. The intermediate shaft assembly was serviced and the oil and filter were replaced. The stalling continued and the vehicle was returned to the sales/service dealer, where the right portioning valve was replaced and the brake lines were bled. The oil and filter were replaced again. The power failed again while traveling 55 MPH. After inspection of the vehicle the sales manager informed the contact, the crankshaft position sensor, rear struts and steering gear needed to be replaced. …
