This Versa was purchased brand new with 6 miles on it, delivered 8/16/2024. Strong odor of fuel inside cabin after city driving about 90 minutes in 100+ degree heat with a/c (on either recirculating or fresh air) in [redacted] . So overwhelming, causing burning eyes, throat, and nose forcing me to shut off engine. Predictably occurs when outside heat is over 100 deg F. This occurred within only 30 days of purchase at about 1300 miles, and so far occurred 4 times thus far total since purchase date to present. It took me a few weeks to fully understand the root cause until inspection under hood revealed fuel leakage around fuel injectors where inserted in intake manifold, and possibly fuel rail. Brought car in to Nissan dealer that sold me it and they said they smelled no odor (most likely because engine was cold and they only test drove briefly) and found no leaks. …
On multiple occasions, the vehicle will randomly stall while in motion. Most recently, this occurred while I was on the on/off ramp of one major highway merging onto another highway; in the process of down shifting from fifth gear to third gear, the car stalled, while in motion, causing a complete loss in power steering and braking. I was able to restart the vehicle without incident, however, had I needed to suddenly maneuver or brake I would have been unsuccessful in either of these actions. This has happened more than once, there appears to be no rhyme or reason to this happening, which makes the situation far more variable as there is no way to anticipate or predict its occurrence. On one of these occasions, upon restarting of the vehicle there was a marked decrease in power output from the engine. …
My 2023 Nissan Versa S5MT has a reoccurring issue where under a stall condition the car will occasionally loose all power on a restart. This happened once in traffic. I got to a red light and fumbled the clutch pedal and stalled in stopped traffic. I went to get in front of a semi that was moving faster then me and if I didn't realize what happened I may have cut him off and gotten T-boned. In a 2500lb car like the Versa, that could have killed me. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they failed to replicate the issue. There were no symptoms or warnings prior to the failure. Many others have claimed this issue exists with their 2023 Nissan Versas and also claimed the dealership could not fix theirs.
This vehicle is a manual transmission model. If the engine is stalled on takeoff and has to be restarted it enters a low power condition where acceleration is severely reduced. The power loss is bad enough to make it impossible to keep up with traffic. Even maintaining speed while climbing hills is difficult. This is dangerous because moving much more slowly than surrounding traffic makes this car a collision risk. The low power condition continues until the vehicle is turned off and the key is removed. The MIL light has come on and the DTC is P2615. We have scheduled to take the vehicle for service tomorrow, but it hasn't been seen by a technician yet.
I purchased this car from Carvana on 02/25/26, 2022 Nissan Versa S Manual Transmission. On four occasions over the course of two separate days, while under way, I lost power and the car went into a limp mode. Twice I was able to pull off the road, twice I had to stop on the road. After coming to a complete stop I was able to place the car in first gear and continue on driving. This power loss puts me at risk to be rear ended by the following car. I took it to the Nissan Dealer on 03/17/26 expressing my concern. I was told that they could not find any code in the car that indicated the trouble I experienced, nor was there any illumination of the check engine light. Because of that I was told that my car could not be serviced.
If the vehicle stalls when starting or depressing the clutch too fast, the vehicle will sometimes enter a low power (limp mode), where the driver can floor the accelerator and the car will barely accelerate. The absolutely max speed when this happens seems to be around 55 and it takes 30 seconds to reach this speed. Turning the car off and letting it sit for 15 seconds, and then restarting the car seems to fix the problem. This has happened to me 3 times over the past 2 years.
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Versa. The contact stated while attempting to add fuel to the vehicle on several occasions, the fuel tank release lever popped and became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
Recently out 2020 Nissan Versa started "Shuddering" when accelerating at low speeds. I took it to the Nissan Dealership and they quoted me $7,000 saying the transmission had to be replaced. I conducted online reviews and found Nissan customers experience this same issue in concerning numbers. I found multiple Nissan Technical Bulletins about this very issue, with this vehicle. Not only is it concerning they are allowing the safety of our loved ones to be at risk, but then do not have the loyalty to the customers to fix the problem with a recall.
