Driving on the highway car tends to lose power and sputter and in some cases it will stall. When trying to restart it, it will not start. This can be very dangerous. Also, if driving this vehicle and then shutting the engine off you can not restart it without waiting at least 30 minutes. My 16 year old has been driving this car and the first instance it happened was while she was driving it. She lost all power and was not even able to use her brakes. She came very close to hitting a wall but was able to steer it away but steering was very difficult as well. We replaced the fuel pump thinking it wasn't getting enough gas but this still hasn't fixed the issue. We are told by mechanics that the problem can't be duplicated therefore it can't be fixed. I bought this car used and I can't believe that Nissan has not recalled this car due to many complaints with this issue. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and connector failed and needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic advised the contact that the parts were on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, however informed the contact that fuel pump was available however the fuel connector was on back order. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
After replacing the fuel pump in 2013, the car stalled out in the fast lane of a small town. Negotiating to the right side of the road was extremely dangerous. The vehicle had to be towed to a mechanic where it was determined the second fuel pump also failed. Nissan, in an attempt to avoid a general recall, issued a only a technical bulletin warning of possible fuel pump failure. This situation can be extremely dangerous and should be resolved by Nissan.
Every time I filled up my gas tank, the cabin filled up with fumes. I went to my mechanic and found the fuel modulator was leaking and had to be replaced. The plug was burnt. They replaced and repaired the items. My mechanic told me that this replacement might fall under a recall. Before my car was fixed, I was getting headaches from the fumes.
Check engine light came on, code was for a small EVAP leak, noticed smell of gas fumes inside the passenger cabin. Independent mechanic found and showed me a cracked fuel pump housing, additionally the electrical connection was black on the leftmost pin, evidence of arcing (sparking) from a short/poor connection between contacts.
My 2009 Nissan Versa just had a fuel pump failure (14 feb 2013). I use this car four days a week to commute to work 83 miles each way. I have completed all maintenance on this vehicle I do not understand why without any warning that this fuel pump would fail. I also remember right after I purchased this car that Nissan replaced my fuel pump at no cost to me but now the same fuel pump has failed anyway to the tune of $644.58. I searched the internet and discovered that there are numerous customer complaints of fuel pump failures on Nissan Versa's. I had hoped that Nissan would return some if not all of the money that I had to spend out of pocket for this service since this appears to be a re-accouring problem with fuel pumps on Nissan Versa's. …

July 2, 2013 - while driving the service engine soon (ses) light comes on. The rate of speed does not seem to have an impact on this problem. I have taken my car to the Nissan dealership on 7 different occasions for this problem. Each time the computer reveals the following code: p2a00 a/f sensor failed. So far the following repairs have been done: replaced front air/fuel sensor (nov 2011), replaced o2 sensor and reprogrammed the engine control module (ECM) (mar 2012), replaced the a/f sensor for the 2nd time, and reprogrammed the ECM for the 2nd time (April 2013), replaced the fuel pump (May 2013), replaced the a/f sensor for the 3rd time (June 5, 2013), reprogrammed the ECM (June 18, 2013),and finally replaced the o2 sensor for the 2nd time (June 27, 2013). These repairs have not fixed the problem. The ses light has come back on after my latest service in June 2013. …
I own a Nissan Versa 2009 and I am constantly having problems with starting the vehicle, like it is not getting enough fuel or something. Also, last week I was driving the vehicle and it suddenly would not go when I pushed on the gas. I took my vehicle to the dealer and on the way there it started working fine, I left it at the dealer anyways and they kept it for three days and called me up and said that they could not replicate the problem and therefore there is nothing they can do. My vehicle is still having problems and this time my wife was turning a corner onto a busy highway and almost got in an accident because the car would hardly move and the other car was going really fast. The dealer refuses to do anything about it unless they can replicate the problem, this is a serious safety issue and I have kids that drive in the car with me. …
As has been documented in 29 previous complaints on this site, Nissan Versa has known failure of exhaust system flange within 36-48 months, resulting in muffler failure and dangerous levels of toxic fumes entering cabin and outside air. Potential loss of muffler while driving also creates risk of accident and injury to car passengers and/or other vehicles on road. Expense to repair via midas in this circumstance was $474, with this one location reporting this as "standard" issue with all Nissan's, for which they have completed "non stop" repairs. Nissan has refused to offer any assistance to customers on this issue. This is well documented, and a known safety hazard for both potential accidents and air poisoning dot needs to investigate and hold Nissan accountable for recall and repair of this flange.
