Owner reports

The driver's side sun visor falls down and will not stay up. This distracts the drivers ability to see and is a serious safety concern that will directly result in accidents. This is a common problem on this vehicle and an issue that has been reported by many Murano owners.
Recently, the sun visor on our 2005 Nissan Murano started falling down suddenly while driving. This happens frequently - every few hundred feet on a paved, bumpy road. Smooth interstate lanes do not affect, but hit 1 bump and you'll have the visor in your face. This visor obstructs the view of anyone taller than 5'4" immediately. This car only has 58,500 miles on it. I took it to the Nissan dealer, he said they'd seen this before but Nissan did not cover replacement, the Nissan price for the driver's side only for this visor was quoted at $380.00. He suggested I try a salvage yard or ebay to find one cheaper. As I went on-line to investigate, I found forum after forum of people who have experienced this same issue. Response was mostly the same - no corrective measures were offered by Nissan, many had replaced the visor - only to have the replacement fail as well. …
The sun visor on the driver's side will not stay in the upward or "not in use" position. I can be driving and it will fall down blocking my vision while driving. In the beginning I thought it was only my car but after researching and talking with dealership it is a common malfunction. Dealership said they are aware but the problem cannot be fixed by recall because Nissan has not given them the "okay." in order to fix problem a new visor would need to be installed with visor part alone costing $200+. I currently have to pull over the extension visor on the passenger side to hold up the driver's side sun visor, and the driver's side visor will still fall down at random times blocking my vision and at times at very crucial moments. I feel this is a major safety hazard and a defect product installed by Nissan. In the beginning I tried to get Nissan to fix but to no avail. …
2 incidents 1) both driver and passenger side sun visors will not stay up completely causing issues during driving (falling into driver's view while driving). I have never had this issue with any other car I've owned (Honda, Ford, Chevy, Toyota). Average replacement cost per visor is ~$200.00 which is a little steep. 2) when car reached 104,000 miles, the driver's seat rear left bracket cracked. This occurred while making a right turn from a stop. Date of occurrence is May 4, 2013. After researching this online, I found several Nissan muranos have this issue. The left rear support was not designed for long term application and is a flawed design. I also found someone that welded their bracket together from youtube which May be the route I May take if a recall is not implemented. …
When driving over a bump or driving on a bumpy road the driver's side sun visor falls or drops down unexpectedly. It appears that the visor is not tightly held by the bracket that it sits on. When this occurs, there is complete loss of vision through the front windshield. When driving at higher speeds (or any speed for that matter), this loss of vision might cause an accident if the visor is not raised up quickly enough. I have researched this problem online and I have found that there are many, many other Nissan Murano owners with the same complaint, especially for owners with model years 2005, 2006 and 2007. This is definitely something that should be investigated before there are any serious accidents or loss of life as a result of this defect. This is something that should be recalled and replaced with a new sun visor. The passenger's side sun visor does not exhibit this behavior. …
I own a 2005 Nissan Murano and have had numerous "incidents" regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. The mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. Numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. I have talked to the Nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and I must replace on my own expense regardless if I have a warranty. I have contacted the dealer I purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. I find this outrageous and danderous. An online search yeilds a large number of other Murano owners with the same problem.
Driver's side sun visor on my 2005 Nissan Murano has loosened and falls in the driver's line of sight unexpectedly. It has been vertified by the dealership at a cost of almost $500. Nissan has been contacted and has refused to cover the replacement. It is a safely hazzard since it blocks the driver's vision and falls without warning. It will not stay where it should, either up or down, and is practically in the driver's face when it falls. Evidently it is an issue that has occured in Nissan muranos since 2003 and the manufacturer knows about it and has not taken appropriate action to correct the problem with successive models nor to cover the cost for those owners whose autos are out of warranty. As with any recall issue, it is a safety issue that should be addressed.
Original owner, purchased new in 2005. The driver side visor will not stay in up position and must be held in place by other means .(I am currently using a bungee cord that is attached to the visor clip and ran across to the drivers side roof handle above window to hold the visor up so that I have adequate visibility through the front windshield). When attempting to reposition the visor in the up and lock position I heard a popping sound. After that, the visor has failed to stay locked in the up and flat position, keeping it flush against the interior roof. If not using another means to keep the visor up, it will remain in the down position and blocks drivers view. Does not have the flexibility to remain at an angle to block sun, only hangs straight down.
The driver's side visor on my Nissan Murano keeps falling down constantly. It will not stay up on its own. I was backing out of a parking stall, and the visor fell down (at the exact wrong moment) blocking my vision. This caused me to be distracted and bump my car into a pole. The damage to my car was just enough where my whole bumper had to be replaced. The cost of the repairs from the auto body shop was $1,050.00. This is a factory safely hazard failure from Nissan. The expense to replace my visor is a ridiculous $400.00. Nissan needs to do a recall or at least sell this part at cost. I have since had to velcro the visor it into place. The velcro is not a solution and makes the visor useless. This visor problem is a safety hazard.
Sun visor in 2005 Nissan Murano with 55K miles doesn't stay up all of a sudden. This started happening for no apparent reason. It's loose when in the up position, and if the car hits a bump, it falls in front of the driver. It is difficult to drive with it down all the time, and quite dangerous when it's up and all of a sudden falls when driving. It costs $375 for a replacement visor. Both the local Nissan dealer and the corporation refused to assist with the cost of the part, and this is a problem that, according to internet research (and the local dealer's own admission), numerous other people have encountered. This issue poses a serious safety hazard, yet is cost-prohibitive to have fixed.
