When driving 65mph on highway hood flutters. This is causing anxiety thinking hood will become loose. I've spoken to the dealership and they did assure me that it will not However it's impossible to say that it would never happen. This is a huge safety issue and something that needs to be rectified

The front hood is structurally weak, causing flexing, bouncing, and fluttering. When driving over 55 mph, you feel as though the hood is going to open up while driving. It is a very unsettling and unsafe feeling when driving on the highway. You feel as though the hood is going to open up and smash against the windshield. When driving on surface streets where there are bumps in the road, the hood moves a lot. The technical bulletin by Mitsubishi Motors: TSB-21-42A-001 references a hood latch and bumper height adjustment to alleviate the hood fluttering. In reality, the complete hood assembly is unstable. The hood needs to have internal bracing, as well as under hood cross member strength and adhesion, and/or thicker gauge metal for the hood's strength. I was driving on the freeway from the dealership and noticed this. I went back to the dealership to inquire about returning the vehicle. …

Since May 2023, I've been to two different dealerships with the same issue. It started with a whistling sound form air vents, buring smell, increased has consumption, loss of power going up hill, gas smell inside cabin, no air, loud noise from right side of car under hood, and engine malfunction warning. Finally, 12/12/23 the car, without warning, instantly stalled, shut-off in traffic. Several vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid rear end collision at it was it happened in front of a school with heavy traffic! The car would not restart and had to be towed to dealership. I contacted Mitsubishi corporate office in Aug/Sept, and was assigned Bernedette, who, constantly confused and incoherent, dismissed my complaints as dealerships wouldn't fix bc Mitsubishi wouldn't reimburse. She stated if there was no code, the car could NOT be fixed! …

The hood on my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has visibly fluttered, shaken and bounced while driving since I purchased the vehicle used on March 15, 2024, with approximately 80,000 miles. This has been an ongoing condition throughout my ownership, not a single isolated incident. The movement is especially noticeable at highway speeds and can be clearly seen from inside the vehicle while driving. I am concerned that the amount of hood movement could present a safety risk while the vehicle is being operated. I contacted a Mitsubishi dealership regarding the hood flutter and was told they were not aware of this issue. The condition has not been repaired or corrected. Mitsubishi has issued multiple technical service bulletins addressing hood flutter on the 2022 Outlander. …

The hood of the vehicle vibrates and lifts while driving, especially at higher speeds, causing alarm to driver and passengers. The dealership did not disclose the known issue when we purchased and was subsequently contacted within days of purchasing regarding the problem. We presented personally and was told rather than replacing the latch and seals like some dealers, our entire hood would be replaced as the manufacturer suggested. It took multiple unanswered calls to ascertain the status so the vehicle could be dropped off, ultimately we had to visit in-person to sort it out due to short staffing. After having the vehicle for 19 days to replace the hood, the new one has been painted twice as a result of defects in workmanship (paint) and is still experiencing the vibration and lift while driving. …

Since having purchased the vehicle in October 2021, the hood flutters/vibrates whenever the vehicle is being driven at speeds of 60MPH or more. The faster the vehicle drives, the more violently the hood flutters/vibrates. We have taken it to the dealer for repair, and they informed us that Mitsubishi is aware of the issue but they have yet to issue repair or do a recall. After speaking with Mitsubishi Corporate in the US, they said they are not planning to do a recall or offer a timeframe for a repair, but fully admitted to being aware of the issue, After doing research online, I found that many if not most of the 2022 Outlanders have this very serious issue. Not only is it scary driving with the hood vibrating, but it will cause unnecessary wear and tear on the vehicle and possibly cause a catastrophic incident. The vehicle is readily available for inspection. …

There is currently a service bulletin out for the hood to be replaced because it flutters on the highway, I purchased the vehicle pre owned at 61,000 miles, Mitsubishi won't cover the repair because it's over 60,000 miles, I feel like this is a safety concern as the hood flutters on the highway and I have 2 small children in the car most of the time one is an infant , they are trying to charge me $3,045 for the repair when it was the fault of Mitsubishi. I purchased the car preowned from Chrysler dodge jeep ram at 61,000 miles and there service department told me several times it's normal and it's fine, I finally brought it to a Mitsubishi service center and they told me about the issue. This should not have a warranty to be covered for repair it should be a recall , I'm worries the hood will pop open on the highway .
