Airconditioning leaks from beneath glove compartment. Drained twice but company will not repair if there is the presence of any outside material such as a leaf, a piece of debris that they claim is in the system. Dealer repair stated that there is something in the body that is allowing debris to get in and when consumer indicated that was a car defect dealer said that there was nothing they could do. Therefore, defect in body caused problem with cooling system and neither is covered by warranty. Consumer is actively seeking remedy for this problem. Car handles like garbage. Tires have been replaced, brakes, alignment done twice and the car pulled to the right still. After brakes were done car actually pulled more to left. The car stinks. Steering said to have no problem yet see above. The car stinks.
Steering-car pulled to the right -remedy, tech said steering wheel off center, adjusted and cross rotated front tires. Brakes-grinding -remedy, tech said caliper supports were faulty, replaced supports and turned rotors, they would not replace rotors. Other-hood was not secure in hood latch, bounced up and down. -remedy, tech said hod latch out of adjustment, still bounced after car was picked up.
Tl contact owns a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. When the vehicle was started, the engine would shut off. All of the warning indicator lights illuminated. The failure also occurred while driving between 5-35 MPH. There was a loss of power steering, but the brakes still operated. The repair shop stated that the crankshaft position and camshaft sensors needed to be replaced. No repairs were made. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 00V299001 (engine and engine cooling:engine). The current and failure mileages were 103,000.
Right rear tire hit hole or bump in parking. Activated anti-lock braking for first time since buying car in 2001. Lost steering control at same time. Couldn't turn it. Stopped before entering highway. Put car in park; then drive and slowly took off. Steering returned to normal. Dangerous situation if I was in traffic or meeting another vehicle while attempting to exit parking lock. Faint odor of fuel. No obvious leak on ground.
The suspension/steering foundation has a problem that the dealership cannot locate. An alignment is needed every 2/3 months(not always riding on rough roads). Steering feels out of control, had 4 alignments done, 2 sets of 4 brand new tires placed on the car in a 2yr. Period- the steering & suspension feels out of control(almost caused two accidents) and the dealer cannot find anything wrong...also noise coming from front passenger side that they cannot find either...........I seen a lot of the same complaints sent already!
While driving 45-50 MPH smelled smoke. Consumer applied brakes, and they faded. Transmission slipped. Consumer pulled over, and front of vehicle burst into flames. Fire department put out fire, vehicle was towed to dealer. Factory representative determined Mitsubishi was not responsible. There was recall000295001 on power steering tube that could cause a fire, but this vehicle was not affected. Vehicle was totalled, no injuries.
Automobile pulls to the right side while braking. Grinding noise is heard while braking. Automobile was taken to savannah Mitsubishi on 10-26-98 for repairs. No problems found. I was told that grinding noise is common is ABS. On 12-15-98, while suddenly braking to prevent from hitting another automobile, automobile pulled to the right side causing me to hit the curb. Impact with curb caused right front tire to blow. A towing service was called to remove wheel. Mechanic stated that rust had settled between wheel and axle which made it difficult to remove wheel. Since the incident, automobile continues to pull while braking also vibration and grinding noise. Prior to incident, on 11-14-98, manufacturer was notified of the problems with vehicle. A representative telephoned on 12-9-98 informing me to continue to take the automobile in for repairs. …
I purchased a '99 mits Galant for my daughter for her 16th b'day in November of 2004. She continually complained of steering wheel vibration which I did feel on the couple of occasions I drove the vehicle. In late 2005 she went to make a left hand turn and the vehicle would not steer left. She subsequently hit a retaining wall. I did not turn it into my insurance since it was purely cosmetic. She was driving the vehicle very little. She saved her money until last month when she had the front end repaired. Within weeks of getting the vehicle back she again went to make a left turn off of our street and the vehicle would not steer left again. She hit a trailer and pushed it into a fence. Unfortunately, this time she was injured and had to be transported to the hospital by ambulance. Due to this 2nd occurrence I decided to check for recalls that deal with the steering on these vehicles. …
