Fall of 2007 I flipped from ac to heat. There was clicking inside the dash and it finally switched over. Had to switch back to ac on warm day and the clicking was there again and it eventually went from heat to cold. Finally I flipped it back a week or two ago on a cold morning, no clicking and no heat at all. I've reached under the dash pushing the white lever back and forth thinking maybe it was just the cable that's stretched but that's not the case. I took the white lever off (just 1 screw) and turned the little gear by hand. Clockwise is to cold and when it gets all the way it stops. Counter-clockwise is heat and when I get to the end it clicks like the earlier clicking like it's stripped out somewhere in the dash. There's a lot of complaints about this on the internet and I believe one other similar complaint on this site. …
2003 Galant es. V-6 motor. Had to replace heater control valve due to no heat. Clicking noise from time to time then nothing as well as no heat. No sooner did I replace that and then heat selector quit working. Can not change from vents to defrost. Mechanic said heater box warped and cost about 2500.00 to fix this. Now pulling into the driveway, the radiator burst open on the front side. About a 4 inch opening just to the right side of cap if you are facing the car. Mechanic has said all of this is very common in these cars and Mitsubishi should have done something to take care of these problems as every Galant made has had same issues..
I purchased my 2002 Galant in August 05. When I first turned the dial to heat, it made a "clicking" sound and then started blowing warm air. I noticed that every time I turned the heating/cooling dial it made the "clicking" sound. In April 2006, the "clicking" sound quit and so did the heat. I took the car to a mechanic and was told it was the heater core. I purchased a heater core from the nearest Mitsubishi dealer approximately 50 miles away only for the clicking sound to come back once and to find out the heater core is not the problem. The dealer will not take the $200. Part back saying Mitsubishi will not accept it. I have talked to several others that own 2002 galants who have the same "clicking" sound. Corporate Mitsubishi was not any help in this situation.
About three years ago I got this clicking noise behind my dash and my heat quit working. Well if it would click again it would work. Well it finally quit working all together and after doing some research Mitsubishi seems to be putting bad heat control motors in their cars. My car 2002 and it started this in 2004. As much as I've paid for this car this is unacceptable. This is not a cheap part to have fixed as I have found from my research. It would be one thing if I was the only one it happened to but it seems to be a problem with mitsubishis and I believe they should have to replace their faulty part. Thank you!
Leaking A/C evaporator into floorboard of drivers and passenger side. Used a dependable local mechanic to work on the problem. The leaking evaporator has been cleared twice by the mechanics and after spending over $600.00 the problem is yet to be resolved. Mitsubishi corporate has yet to recall this but the more you research the more you understand that this is not an uncommon occurrence. The 2001 Galant has a significant backgound of documentation from this ongoing problem and Mitsubishi will not stand behind there product while knowing there is a major problem. In short I will not buy or recommend Mitsubishi products again.
Air conditioner leaks inside the car on drivers side and in front and behind drivers seat floor mats literally drips with water and floor is soaking wet. We purchased the car with a bumper to bumper 100,000 mile extended warranty from hampton Mitsubishi 4895 johnston st lafayette, la 70503. They told us this problem is not covered by extended warranty. I am so frustrated and feel so deceived and have vowed to never purchase another Mitsubishi car and will not recommend misubishi cars to anyone.
Tl contact owns a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. The contact observed that the entire vehicle exterior body exhibited severe rust spots. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection; however, the technician was unable to assist with repairing the rust. The dashboard also exhibited extensive cracking and warps which covered the entire length of the vehicle which was caused by the defroster unit. The front passenger axle was taken to an authorized dealer on a separate occasion and repaired. The contact had concerns of the safety risk involved. The failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 79,800.
A/C not working properly not any where near as cold as it should be. Brought back to Mitsubishi in serramonte around 4 time. They completely took apart dashboard and the A/C in 2003 and said they found metal shavings in some part of the A/C unit and fixed it. Well now it's 4 years later and it never really worked right. This is a problem since the car was bought new in 2000. I just gave up trying to get this A/C to work properly but a friend told me I should post it with the NHTSA.
