With my vehicle the brakes go straight to the floor. I took it to the mitsubishi dealership closest to me (Bobmills mitsubishi Jacksonville Nc). When I got there i told them what was going on, and if you bleed the brakes they worked fine for 3 or 4 days but after that the brakes would just go to the floor again. They said they bleed the brakes to replace the fluid and then tested the ABS module for a recall and said it was fine but I had a collapsed brake line in the rear. I replaced all the brake lines on the vehicle and did a complete bleed again to remove any air. The brakes now go all the way to the floor again. I was trying to bleed them just to see if I could get some pressure, but 3 of the lines aren't getting pressure. I decided to check and bleed at the master cylinder, I had plenty of pressure coming out so I know that's good. …
Brakes consistently fail to hold pressure and are letting go. I purchased this car back in April and the previous owner had no idea of the recall. Did a bit of research and found it's a defect in the system. Once the car fails to hold pressure I have to very rapidly spam the break pedal to get a sliver of pressure so my car can come to a stop. Breaking with little pressure grinds the brakes and doesn't stop the car.
The brakes failed to stop the car at a stop sign the breakes stated to grip, the pedal went all the way down and I could not stop the car and I hit the car in front of me causing a crash. I call the the company they told me to call the local dealer, I made and appoitment to get it fix @ the only dealer in decatur ill, the appointment at 7:00 am I left at 2:00p.m. Only for them to tell me they didn't have the part to fix my car that I have to wait for another letter from the Mitsubishi company. On the 8/5/2015 I call again, I don't feel safe driving in this car and the company told me they will tow the car to the dealer to get it fix, the dealer told me it will take a day, today I call the dealer they told me it will take 3 to 4 days, when ask for a rental they say I have to call the Mitsubishi company because they couldn't provided me with a rental. …
My car was stolen last year by someone I knew, and was wrecked. After the wreck, myself and pennsylvania state police spoke to the person and he said the accident was caused because the brakes failed to engage as he was making a turn and the right lower control arm failed, which caused the tie rod to snap which punctured through the wheel and out the tire. Damage done to the vehicle confirms this, and I have pictures and documentation to support this claim. Car was left on the side of the road with entire front right suspension detached, cv shaft ripped out from the manual transmission, entire front right wheel hub assembly was ripped off, caliper, brake pads and rotor remained attached to the hub, but were disconnected from the vehicle. The wheel also remained intact on the hub. There was significant front end damage to the bumper, fender, inner wheel hub splash guards, headlight, etc. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. While driving approximately 30 MPH, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and failed to stop the vehicle when it was depressed. As a result, the contact crashed into the preceding vehicle. A police report was filed. The passenger of the last vehicle sustained head injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's residence and the brake pedal performed as designed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V337000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I was driving on a dead end street and the brakes went all the way to the floor and I had no stopping or slowing down even with pumping the brakes I had the brakes checked a month prior to this because the brake and ABS light would come on randomly and the technician at morries Mazda reported to me they were operational.. I ended up hitting a tree (my choices were a line of cars or a tree, so I picked the tree) with the brake malfunction and no air bags deployed at around 30 plus MPH. And I sustained injuries. When I looked at the brakes it appeared that the front passenger side brake was the only operational brake as it was the only rotor to not have accumulated a high amount of rust.
I have had this issue 20 or more times in the past, I have owned my vehicle for 5 years, I have had the brakes replaced 3 times. Today I was driving about 60 miles an hour on a wet road. I had to suddenly hit the brakes, although I did not slam on them, and the anti lock brakes kicked in, then I lost all the brakes all together. I released the brakes immediately and drove to the right side of traffic to avoid a crash! As the car slowed on its own I had to slowly and repeatedly press the brakes, all pressure was lost to the brakes at this point and they felt spongy. I exited the freeway (full of traffic) and slowly pulled off the side of the road, while depressing the brakes I noted they felt inconsistent, they would either immediately brake or not at all, terrifying! …
I have had several incidents over several months when I step on the brake , it goes to the floor. I quickly pump the brakes and braking effectiveness returns. There has also been times where brake pedal feels mushy. I took to local dealer after almost rear ending a vehicle when it stopped suddenly.. I told them I had received the recall notice but it had told me to wait for further instruction. I informed the dealer that something had to be done as vehicle was unsafe. They performed an ABS recall inspection and told me car was fine......".I said no it's not and something needs to be done now. The dealer said they would get back to me. Oct 2nd the brake failed and in avoiding another car I went into the ditch causing damage to car and mild whiplash. Car was towed. …
I have experienced at least 5 brake failures where the brake pedal went to the floor. I have had 3 master cylinder replacements and have taken the car to a certified mechanic multiple times trying to fix the problem. After finding out about safety recall sr-15-004, I took vehicle to Mitsubishi dealership to have the recall repaired on 6/15/18. They flushed out the ABS system and replaced dot 3 brake fluid with dot 4, ran ABS system test and it came out "OK no repair to ABS needed at this time." since then, I have experienced 7 more brake failures where the pedal went to the floor. My certified mechanic was finally able to re-create the incident, which seems to happen after, not during, braking over rough road surfaces. The brake pedal usually comes right back up after a few seconds or minutes, and is fine until another braking incident over rough road. …
I was pressing brakes when I suddenly got the bump driving from the hill and brake pedal became very soft and the car stopped braking until I pushed breaks very hard. Fortunately, I could avoid the collision with car in front of me before the lights. I pulled off the road to check brakes and I found the liquid leak under the car in the center. It didn't smell like fuel, my breaking fluid is at the maximum level, so I'm not sure what it is, it doesn't smell and has no color. So, car still can stop, but brake is spongy and I had to press pedal to the very down to start breaking. I figured out it's pretty common Eclipse model problem (see forums http://club4g.org/board/problem-reports/31276-spongy-brake-pedal-whistle-release-2.html and http://club4g.org/board/problem-reports/86737-recall-updated-June-2015-a.html) and it May be related to the problem with ABS module. …
