What owners report
I had done tons of research and finally found the vehicle that I was wanting. I purchased a brand new Mazda6. I had only had the car about a week and a half, when suddenly, as I was entering onto the highway, I got my speed up to approximately 35-45 MPH when I heard three loud pops. I saw my windshield beginning to split from the seal at the base. It split central above my defroster. By the time I traveled two miles to pull over, I had watched the crack grow, forming an s shape onto my windshield. When I contacted the dealership, I was immediately advised if it was a rock chip, it would not be covered. There was no rock chip on my windshield, I looked at it and took pictures of it. By the end of the day when I had gotten off of work, the crack had grown, covering about 1/3 of the height of my windshield. …
I am the original owner of a 2015 Mazda 6. While traveling on a straight 60 MPH highway, my sunroof window suddenly exploded, with a loud "bang!". The window was closed at the time and had not been opened in approximately 3 days. Fortunately, the interior deflector (sliding cover) was closed at the time, or glass shards would have rained down on my face and hair. No objects or sudden motions provoked the explosion. Police would not write a report because there were "no suspects of vandalism" and "no collision with other vehicles or property". $725 later, I have a new replacement window from the manufacturer and hope for no similar future incidents or possible mold/mildew issues. The cause of the safety risk is unknown but is certainly unacceptable, given that I maintain my vehicle to the highest standards and am the original owner of only 3 years. …
Windshield was cracked from driver side top under weatherstrip and continued about 18 inches and continuing to crack. Car was parked for 2 days at house. No site of anything impacting it, just a long smooth crack from under the rubber. I believe it to be a stress crack from design flaw.
Went to work like any other day, when I returned to my car I noticed a 1ft+ long crack on the windshield. Took the vehicle over to my local Mazda dealer, and was told it was caused by a debris hit. I did not see or hear anything hit my windshield that day, and did not see any cracks after I parked the car. Filed a claim with my insurance and the auto glass company I was working with, as well as Mazda, told me that the windshield was on backorder with no eta available. After about over 2 months of waiting, and the crack becoming over 2ft long and splitting. The windshield finally came in and was replaced. Not even 2 weeks later, did this new windshield gain another 1ft+ long crack. This time I saw the debris hit, but it did not hit at high speeds or have a hard impact. This leads me to believe that the design of this windshield can be easily damaged and/or is prone to cracking. …
Passenger side dashboard is getting a sticky surface on top. The top layer almost seems like it is melting. It is just starting to get sticky and it is just on top. The stickiness has just started in the last 2 weeks. The sticky surface is causing a glare and is affecting the visibility when driving. Further, the dashboard cracked all the way down after having the air bag replaced due to the recall. No pressure/damage/hits has occurred on the dashboard by consumer and yet it cracked all the way down in January 2018.
I was driving down the hwy and my sunglasses holder fell open was in the way of my rearview mirror and when I went to close it popped off and flew at me spring and all. My Mazda 6 is a 2011 and there are no recalls for this problem, but a lot of reports regarding this problem. I believe Mazda should have to pay for me to install a new one. And there should be a recall on them. Very hazardous when youre driving down the road and the springs flies off and lands on me the driver let alone the whole door falling to my feet and im driving down the road.
Passenger side dash started melting about a year ago and has gotten so bad the dash is almost liquid. Sunlight reflects off the shiny melted dash and blinds the driver. I was in an accident because I couldn't see due to light reflecting off melted dash. Dash is so sticky that you cannot touch or it will stick to hands/ clothing. I have ruined multiple items of clothing due to this mess.
This is the third complaint I have filed regarding the melting dashboard. I forgot to mention in the previous complaint that the melting passenger dashboard is actually not a true dashboard, it is an airbag for the front passenger. I have reason to believe that the melting, permanent, extremely stiky, semi liquid exterior of the airbag will fail to rupture properly allowing for normal deployment of the airbag. It May rupture too easily causing deployment of airbag with excessive force, possibly breaking the neck of a child or injuring an adult. It could not rupture completely causing a lag in the time of deployment and May not inflate completely. It could also possibly prevent deployment completely. …
