What owners report
My passenger air bag doesn't turn on when passenger is in vehicle, sensor for air bag turns on and off as if it can't determine if a person is on the seat. My dashboard has the SRS OCS light on. My vehicle has already been seen by Mazda to fix the recall but I am afraid to drive and suddenly air bags go off.
Hi, car was involved in a small fender bender. Airbags were NOT deployed. However, an error code 19 (B0001) came on the dash related to driver side sensor. If not fixed, airbags will not deploy in case of accident and that puts me and my family in danger. Dealer won't service the vehicle because it has more than 100,000 miles (122,000 miles to be exact on my car). Other mechanics won't touch the airbag system. What am I supposed to do as the car is not safe to be driven and dealer refusing to help.
When involved in a collision in an intersection, the airbag deployed incorrectly. It popped out of the steering wheel but failed to inflate. Not only did this not protect me from whiplash but it also burned a hole in my dress and caused 1st and 2nd degree burns on my upper inner thighs due to the malfunction. The airbag however was fully inflated 48 hours later when sitting in a towing yard.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Mazda 6. While pulling into the parking spot and depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated. The vehicle crashed into a tree and the engine continued to rev as if attempting to continue accelerating. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained bruises to the upper body, which did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a collision center for diagnostic testing. The mechanic was able to feel the vehicle attempting to accelerate on its own. The vehicle was taken to the sea coast Mazda dealer, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000. Updated 09/07/17
Tl* the contact owed a 2014 Mazda m6. The contact stated while her son was driving 55 MPH, the front driver side air bag deployed independently and caused him to drive into a ditch. The contact stated she does not know if any warning lights were illuminated. The driver dislocated his left shoulder and his right shoulder was sprained, both hands were sprained, his left leg was sprained and he experienced back pains. The driver was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The insurance adjuster deemed the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Mazda Mazda6. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V018000 (Air Bags). The dealer confirmed the recall but was unable to perform the recall repair. The dealer informed the contact that there was no crash pad that was better. The dealer suggested that the vehicle be sold or not driven. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to work with the dealer. The mileage was approximately 137,450.
Manufacturers recall number 1317f. NHTSA recall 18v-018 and manufacturers recall number 70131. NHTSA recall 13v42500. First one is air bag on passenger side and the other is Mazda 6 door latch mounting screws.
The passenger dash board is melting. It covers the passengers air bag. I would like to know if a recall is still possible for my vehicle. I understand that there was a recall in 2015-2017, but unfortunately I did not received the notice since I was moving from Illinois to Kansas and later to Texas and continued changing addresses during that time frame.

Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
