"Takata recall" receive notice of recall for airbag inflator defect on passenger side of vehicle about 8 or 10 months ago. Still waiting for replacement part and it's exceeding way beyond time is should have be remedied. Received second notice on April 21, 2017. Spoke to sales person on April 25, 2017 an was told that part is not in and they are waiting on the parts from manufactured. My father in law drives a Honda and had a recall on the same part from "Takata" but received his part within a month or two. Not this was eight months ago. Now I'm still waiting and not having any of my family ride in the passenger seat because of the danger it imposes. It seems nothing but notice are being give with no resolution being done. Its becoming extremely frustrating. Since I cannnot drive my car with my family in the front seat is possible to get a loaner car to use.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Lexus ES350. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator was constantly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (hendrick Toyota north charleston, 7151 rivers avenue, north charleston, sc 29406) where it was diagnosed that the ECU failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired, but the part did not calibrate with the computer software. The local dealer informed the contact that the parts were no longer available due to the age of the vehicle. The contact was instructed not to drive the vehicle due to the air bags not deploying in the event of a crash. The manufacturer was notified and confirmed the information provided by the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 41,379.
Takata recall its been over 2 years since originally receiving correspondence from Lexus about the recalled air bags. I've called corporate and local dealers at least once per quarter to check status and more importantly if the products had been delivered to a remedy. I just received another notice from Lexus stating the recall now had a remedy, but when you call local dealers, they don't have the parts, have no clue when more parts will arrive, and have to be place on a wait list with no idea of duration. I have young children who enjoy riding in the front seat, but can't because all the back and forth about blame and lack of a remedy. A recall of any kind should not take this long to find a remedy and fix affected vechicles.
I own a 2007 Lexus es 350 and was on the 10 fwy in the fast lane (third lane) and a car stopped for no reason and no traffic. I tried to stop and my floor mat slid forward and my car went faster and I tried to stop and push on the brake and the car was not stopping. I could not control my car and stopped into the back of a Mini van. My car had to be towed away and when I called the claim to my aaa insurance company the insurance rep let me know that there was a recall on my car and I never received any letter or notice in regards to a recall this happened on 12/23/09 and I am a mother of three children and the tow truck driver let me know this could have killed me. My air bags did not deploy.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Lexus ES350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 MPH and coming to a stop, another vehicle suddenly crashed into the rear end of the vehicle with substantial force. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was completely destroyed and a police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the collar bone, shoulder, and left leg. In addition, there were bruises and lacerations to the shoulder. The front seat passenger sustained injuries to both wrists and the shoulder. The vehicle was towed to a collision center. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Front end crash of my 2007 Lexus es 350 with a Ford f-150. My car was totaled and the front 1/3 of my vehicle was damaged. There was no airbag deployment in my vehicle. Lexus tells me that the front sensors were not activated because I was in the stopping mode with the front end down and hit low on the passenger doors of the high profile truck. I have pictures and can provide. I find it disturbing that the airbags did not deploy given the extent of front end damage and I would hate to think that one has to hit the sensors just right to get the airbags to deploy. If not an outright mechanical failure, then certainly a design defect.
Tl* the contact owned a 2007 Lexus ES350. While driving at an unknown highway speed, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to engage without warning. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed and destroyed. The contact stated that failure occurred after the vehicle was serviced under an unknown manufacturer's recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 07e082000 (equipment) and 09V388000 (vehicle speed control). The failure mileage was not available.
Tl* Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Lexus ES350. When the vehicle was started, the low tire pressure warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (wilkie Lexus in ardmore, pa, [phone]) for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed because the contact would be responsible for the repair cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V340000 (air bags). The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Lexus ES350. While the vehicle was stationary and driving various speeds, the passenger side air bag indicator illuminated. The passenger side air bag indicator remained illuminated ever since the vehicle was purchased. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V340000 (air bags) and contacted the dealer (Lexus of ownings mill, maryland) where it was diagnosed that the failure was an electronic issue and the contact would be responsible for the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
