The contact owns a 2022 Kia EV6. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked on a hill, it rolled and crashed into a handicapped sign. The forward collision sensor became inoperable. While at the charging station utilizing the radio, the battery and collision warning indicator lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where they were unable to identify the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no additional assistance. While driving, an unknown vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle and a quarter panel. There was no reported injuries, fire, or police report. The vehicle was taken to another dealer (Kia of Irvine 45 Oldfield, Irvine, CA 92618,) where the vehicle failed to start and it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced but the failure persisted. …

On April 13, 2024, when I started my vehicle, the instrument cluster immediately flashed the following warning msg surrounded by a flashing red circle: 12V Battery Very Low Stop Safely I turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds and when I started it again the message did not appear. I contacted KIA USA and received a Recall Inquiry Case #. On April 18th, when I started my vehicle the same 12V Battery Very Low, Stop Safely msg displayed. It did not disappear upon restarting. Within 5 mts ALL the electrics were dead, including the instrument cluster AND the parking/emergency brake control AND the Vehicle Start On/Off button. I am very fortunate I was not driving on the highway when this occurred. Ditto for other drivers. My vehicle had to be towed to my dealer/service center. The tow service jumped the 12V battery and was able to drive it up on the flatbed. …

In November 2024, my 2022 Kia EV6 became suddenly non-drivable due to electrical failure consistent with a repeat ICCU/12-volt system malfunction. The vehicle would not start or maintain normal electrical power and became stuck in accessory mode, creating a loss of propulsion and complete loss of transportation. This vehicle previously experienced an ICCU failure earlier in 2024 that required dealership repair and battery replacement. After that repair, the vehicle again developed electrical failure symptoms, including loss of 12-volt power and inability to operate. Due to the unsafe non-drivable condition, Kia Roadside Assistance directed and arranged a tow to a Kia dealership. Upon arrival at the dealership, new undercarriage and wheel-well damage was documented within approximately 90 minutes of drop-off. …

My 2022 Kia EV6 developed a serious electrical/MCU malfunction on 10/19/2025 at approximately 64,300 miles. While driving, the vehicle began to stutter during acceleration, all driver-assistance and safety systems disabled (LKAS, collision avoidance, lane keeping), and the vehicle could not accelerate normally (topping out around ~60 mph when fully pressing the pedal). The Kia Connect app displayed fault codes MCU P0A4100 and LKAS C164286. The malfunction recurred immediately after a dealer visit on 10/20/2025. The vehicle has since been inspected by Huffines Kia in Corinth, Texas, but no confirmed diagnosis has been provided, nor have they notified me of dropping/reconnecting the HV battery. On 11/18/2025, a new fault code appeared: MCU P0C1700. …

On 5 May 2023 our 2022 Kia EV6 WIND AWD Automatic vehicle (~11,200 miles on the odometer) was being driven under normal conditions at approximately 30 mph in city traffic when the car lost motive power and a dashboard alerts appeared stating "stop vehicle and check power supply" and "check electrical vehicle system." The driver complied but the shutdown occurred on a heavily trafficked road and put the driver and other travelers at risk and caused the driver considerable distress. The incident was reported to the dealer and manufacturer via the Kia Access app, and the car was towed to the nearest Kia dealer and service center on May 8. The dealer diagnosed the problem as caused by a defective ICCU (a part of the electrical powertrain control system) requiring replacement. As of 12 July 2023, Kia has not provided a replacement part and it remains on backorder with no ETA for arrival. …

On [redacted] while traveling to NJ, the vehicle displayed "check electrical system" and would not accept a charge. With only 40 miles of range remaining, I drove the vehicle to Jack Daniels KIA. It is STILL at the dealership, and neither the dealer nor KIA Corp has provided a date that the car will be repaired. The dealer told me that it is covered under the 100kmi powertrain warranty, but that KIA corp must direct how and what to fix. They continue to supposedly try different things to fix the car, but either are not applying resources or are ignorant in how to fix the vehicle. KIA will also not compensate me $1308.99 to cover my current losses (car note, uber to get home when it died, and fuel costs) to date. The car has been out of my possession now for 44 consecutive days straight without any end in sight, compensation, or expected repair date.

The ICCU system in my 2022 Kia EV6 failed for the SECOND time on the highway. The car threw an error telling me to "Check the electrical system" and "Pull over safely immediately" or something similar. Had I not made it to the shoulder, I would have been completely stranded in the middle of the highway, creating an incredibly dangerous situation. This is the second time this has happened with my EV6 in less than 50,000 miles on this car. I had to call a tow truck. I confirmed with the Kia dealership the ICCU system had randomly failed and was required to be replaced *AGAIN*. My wife was in the car with me and was freaked out. She doesn't feel safe in it because there's no rhyme or reason to when it happens. KIA says it is a known issue, and confirmed it was the second time this has happened to my car. No symptoms prior to it happening. …

The vehicle completely lost power while driving. My wife came down a dirt road hill, made a left onto [redacted] in Duxbury, VT, heard a "clunk" from below the car, and experienced total power loss. An error flashed on the screen that read "Critical Battery System" and then, soon after, "Stop Car Immediately." She was able to coast 1/4 mile (downhill) to a school parking lot. The car was towed to a dealership where the dealer replaced the inverter (ICCU) and the paperwork stated "DC/DC Converter input voltage sensor fault." The car had 25,896 miles on it when the incident occurred. The total power loss was extremely dangerous, and we were lucky it did not occur on a highway at a higher speed with more cars in proximity. I see online that NHSTA had previous reports of this issue both with the EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq.

Dec 2023

Incident occured october 17, 2024. Was driving approximately 30mph on a local road when lights flashed to "check electric vehicle system". Was speed restricted to 25mph (on 45mph road) and was able to make it back home approximately 1 mile away. Car completely shut down in my street prior to making it to my driveway. It needed to be towed to the nearest dealership. No lights in dash working and flickering. Prior to this failure over the preceding several months there were errors where I would plug the car into Level 2 charging at home (9.6kWh) and the car would stop charging with a hot charging port approximately every 1 hour. I would unplug and replug in again. Charging would work. Level 3 was working just fine without problem. After going to the dealership it was deemed that the ICCU component needed to be replaced. After replacing car worked well and no charging issues occured.

Oct 2024

After starting the vehicle and beginning to back out of a parking space, a loud pop was heard from the rear of the vehicle. Immediately, a "Check vehicle electrical system warning" appeared on the dashboard, followed by "Stop vehicle and check power supply". While attempting to drive to a safe location, a continuous warning began to sound along with a dashboard warning to stop immediately. The speed of the vehicle was limited which could have caused an accident when driving on public roads. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it is waiting for diagnosis. During the tow, the vehicle was unable to move under its own power. The symptoms appear to represent a failure of Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) (NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V200000). There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
