230 am on interstate 25, no road lighting, no traffic nearby. By ourselves, four of us on the way to the airport. Set cruise control to 75mph. Seconds later all lights including dashboard went out. In total dark ness. Guessed side of road. Managed to stop car. Turned off, back on, all restored. We actually grazed an overpass which I have attached photos. We four came near death. Scared to drive car. Just had "patch" work done at nearby dealership to repair ABS and traction lightss that were on. Please advise.
Was driving the vehicle about 55 miles an hour, when it suddenly lost power. Was able to safely pull over, restart, and continue to my location after a few minutes. When researching the issue it was discovered that the 2016 Jeep Patriot has a recall with the 'crankshaft or camshaft sensor May only work intermittently, causing the engine to stall. If the engine stalls, there is an increased the risk of a crash.' NHTSA campaign number: 16V907000 the dates for that recall are May 9, 2016, to July 15, 2016. The vehicle in question was manufactured in 12/15, which is not included. Called a local dealer, but had no faith that the issue was going to be easily discoverable and or fixed after informing them of the issue. Went to another company who ran a diagnostics service. Immediately finding issues with the camshaft sensor & crankshaft sensor. …
April 2017, while driving on the freeway Jeep started to shake. Etc and engine light were lit up, car would not accelerate. Pulled over at nearest exit. Shut off car and tried to restart, car would not start. Dealership determined that throttle body needed to be replaced. August 2018, while waiting at stop light I started to make a right turn. Car was shaking and did not want to accelerate. Traction control and engine light turned on. Had to shut off vehicle and restart in the middle of a city street. Car restarted, the next day only engine light stayed on. While at stop light and foot on the break the engine shut off. All lights and radio stayed on. Restarted car, driving fine. Took it to dealership, they replaced the throttle body again (and wanted to do so at my expense). While attempting to return my car, it shut off on them. They returned it to me saying it had been fixed. …
While driving I made a right turn and then the "tire light" began to flash and a warning sound was heard then the "traction control light" began to flash and alert sound was heard and then a "red lightning bolt" warning light was flashing on the dashboard and the "engine light" turned on, all lights were lit up and the engine stalled and couldn't get passed 20mph even thought the accelerator was almost to the floor. The vehicle has only less than 32000 miles, and has had its regular maintenance. I've seen several similar complaints on Jeep Patriot forums and seen that the 2014 and 2016 had recalls for this or related issue. When stopping the vehicle idles high and still moves even though the brake is fully pressed, and the temperature rises fast. I was driving at night on a city street so luckily the wasn't much traffic. …
I have the same exact problem as everyone else. The throttle lightning bolt flashes, car wont shift or do more than 35. It wont respond to accelerating. It jerks all over the place when at a low speed. I went off of the road in the snow but was OK. When it first started it kicked into a lower gear, jerked and the car slid. You are going to get people killed ignoring this and now here is written proof that you have been warned. Do hear that, Chrysler? Because youre about to.
In August 2016 driving along and the car stalled and the engine light and electrical light and my 4 wheel drive light came on. The four wheel drive stayed on as well and the car sputtered then stopped. Would not go. Had it towed to a mechanic and he said the electronic body throttle needed replaced. Ridiculous,I contacted the dealership but didn't hear back so I had it fixed and replaced. Monday decemeber 12th while driving home from work at 45 miles an hour my Jeep stalled and then completely died on the road. I managed to get it off the road at a coast. Had it towed again and the mechanic said I need a new engine. This is what happened the mechanic said "due to abrasive debris in the balance shaft bearings, these engines May have a loss of engine oil pressure, possibly resulting in an engine stall or engine failure," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. …
Since I bought car in February of 2018, immensely they had to replace the rear ended and tie rods. I have always noticed how loose the steering is and if I drive in a groove in road the car would automatically go into that groove. I also notice going up a hill the cruise control would be set but car would slow down and not go up in elevation very well. Now the Jeep is chugging severely when I am at a complete stop and place gas to go again. It acts like fuel system is messing up and/or continuous transmission is messed up. Also the driver's and passenger seats do not heat and manufactured seat clips all broke simply by getting out of vehicle normally. The passenger seatbelt also locks no matter how or slow you pull it and lock it in. The passenger seat is way higher and unable to adjust height etc.. I am more concerned about power and slugging from stop position and cruise on hills.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 Jeep Patriot. While driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle stalled and the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated. The contact shifted to neutral and continued driving. The past week, the same failure occurred daily. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic stability control failed and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.
