What owners report

We aren't sure what happened exactly. We drove the car 10 minutes from my house to my work, and it started smoking when she parked. The car eventually caught fire and was completely destroyed, including damage to the structure it was parked next to. USAA has the car currently. My safety was put at risk because the car spontaneously caught fire and burned itself, and nearly burned the structure. There is no way to replicate the problem, as it's a slab of melted metal and plastic. The insurance company currently has the car. I don't know if the manufacturer has inpsected it. There were no warning lights prior to it catching fire after being parked. There was a recall associated with the batteries in these Jeeps, but our battery was not part of the recall. It seems the recall should have probably included my car, but it didn't.

While driving in electric mode, the engine completely shut off. The car shifted into park in the middle of traffic. I couldn't shift it out of park - not even into neutral to push the car off the street. The screen was telling me to press the brake and the start button, as if I was starting the engine. But doing those things did nothing. I couldn't start the engine, and I also couldn't turn the car off. The infotainment system was still running. Eventually, the passenger opened the door, which caused the car to turn off. From there I was able to restart the engine. I then drove home in hybrid/gas mode. The check engine light was on the entire ride back, and it remains on the next day. One other thing. …
