My car will act like it's out of gas/convulsions, dies suddenly, and acts like it's going to die when driving. Check engine light has come on sometimes. I have only had the vehicle around one year and have had it worked on 4 times for the issue. Still isn't fully resolved. It's was the obvious issue from the start so probably an issue before I bought the vehicle. I was referred to the dealership and they quoted me 600 just for the inspection. I just paid 3000 dollars to have it fixed. Still not fixes.
The skid plate below the gas tank completely rusted away. The skid plate is the only thing holding the gas tank secure to the Jeep. There are no other retaining straps. I noticed the problem before the gas tank was able to drop and secured it with rubber straps until I could get it repaired. The Jeep could not be driven. A full tank of gas could have caused the tank to drop through the rusted skid plate. The Jeep also has skid plates below the front and mid drive components. They have not rusted at all. There is no rust on the Jeep anywhere else. I have photos of the rusted component while in place and after it was removed and replaced. I checked with my local Jeep dealer and they were unaware of a problem.
The car stops when it wants rather if I'm in traffic, stop sign, red light, or interstate.. The wheel and the brakes will lock up. I've been calling Chrysler the 1800 number and local dealerships such as picayune ms and slidell la about the situation but nobody seems to care!!! They said the parts isn't in and that its the ignition switch so I payed out of my pockets for the ignition switch and got it put on with the money that I didn't have to spare but obviously that wasn't the problem.. Now my car engine is making raggling and tractor noises. Barely want to start.. Basically I don't have transportation to or from work and school for the fall!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot Chrysler...
Driving straight ahead at approximately 70 MPH on a turnpike the engine and all power immediately and instantly shut off. Vehicle has approximately 110,300 miles on the odometer. Quite a scary circumstance. As I was pulling off the main freeway to the shoulder, I turned the ignition to start and the engine immediately started, seemed to run fine, and I proceeded on as if nothing had happened. No error or warning lights were on the dash. 5.7l Hemi engine. This could have resulted in a very bad accident.
The 2007 Jeep Commander I own is having a fuel pump relay issue.it will not start but continuously turns over also we have had the car stall out on the highway at high speeds making it a rather dangerous situation. Many of the vehicles from 07 and up had a recall for this exact reason but unfortunately mine was not covered under this recall. I am certain that this is my issue but the manufacturer has refused to do anything to fix the problem without paying an arm and a leg.
My Jeep has been giving me problems. I drove it to birmingham, ala for 3 trips and the gas mileage declined each time ( 19-17-13) mile to the gallon. The Jeep also started shaking and trying to stop, especially when stopped at a red light and standing still. I took the Jeep to chris myers in daphne, al to see what the problem was. I left it for 2 days and gave them complaints of smelling gas when starting the engine, shaking at idle, and low gas mileage. They did the diagnostic check and found multiple cyl misfire. Found spark plugs fouled and trash in the fuel rail. They replaced spark plugs & cleaned fuel rail. It was $607.12. I drove the Jeep home and several days later it did the same thing, stopping when at regular speed almost having an accident. I called the manager he stated to bring it back & would recheck it, but I would have to pay for repairs. …
This has happened to me several times in the two years I've owned this vehicle. Every time I take it to the shop the mechanics say they cannot replicate the issue so cannot fix it. First the check engine light will come on and no codes will appear when run. A couple days later (mostly when driving on the highway, or any speed above 30mph) I will be driving as usual and begin to increase speed on the on ramp for the interstate and the engine will tap out at 45mph. I will press the gas pedal to the floor and the engine will not rev and the RPM's will not increase. I tried to put the car in neutral and back into drive and nothing changed with the engine. All the while I had my one year old child in the car with me. Every time I try to research what is wrong with my Jeep I just see the same complaint from thousands of people. This is obviously an issue and needs to be fixed immediately! …
Tl contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander 4x4. On September 10, 2007, while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning. The cruise control was engaged at the time of the failure. The contact stated that she was decelerating and the wheels and brakes locked up simultaneously. The vehicle restarted approximately 15 minutes later. Another failure occurred when she placed the vehicle in reverse. She stated that the vehicle failed to move while the gear was in reverse. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the fuel pump failed. The vehicle is currently being repaired at the dealer. The contact only had the vehicle for thirty days before the failures began. The current and failure mileages were 2,436. Updated 09/26/07
Vehicle was leaving a stop sign entering a feeder road with 50 MPH speed limit. Upon accelerating, the vehicle lunged, and died. It restarted and was driven to it's original destination. We called Chrysler after she returned home and they told us to take it to a dealership for a diagnostics. Dealership says it is not covered by any recall and that the throttle body needs cleaning for $250. (a $2 can of cleaner). This same vehicle stalled twice in the same trip one week earlier but I considered it as part of the cold weather. After reading all of this, they have an issue with the 2007 Hemi's and have not fessed up to it.
Vehicle shuts off while driving. Various conditions. Idling, cruising at highway speeds, accelerating, decelerating, etc. Must shut key off to reset engine before the vehicle will start again. This has happened at least 20 times with no check engine light illuminating. It has become a huge safety issue since all power is lost at any speed.
