To whom it May concern; I own a 2010 GMC Yukon. I as well as others have a cracked dashboard, one near the deployment of my airbag and one on the driver side by the steering column. Considering GMC's interest in the safety and quality of their vehicles. It is a shame that there is not a recall because of such reason as death! There is a huge concern that the sharp edges of the cracks can absolutely cause he airbag to deploy and getting your hand cut and infection is a definite possibility. Not to mention the attention that the cracked dash is. When someone is walking by it is very noticeable and looks bad for GMC. This has been broadcast-ed on the memphis, tn news lately and one dash out of plenty has been properly taken care of. If this issue is not resolved and the importance of this I do plan on going to the news and taken further action. …

I bought a 2010 Yukon denali and the dash started cracking all the way to the airbag. It started as one small crack and is now all the way across the dash at the instrument panel. Upon investigating it I found that several thousand others are dealing with the same dangerous defect in Yukon and tahoe vehicles dated 2007-2014 models. GM refuses to acknowledge this or recall this. This could be potentially very dangerous if the airbag is deployed and the dash comes off in several sharp pieces. Also, my door handles are all coming off and the inside door handles chrome is peeling off and cutting my hand. This should be a recall but GM will not help all of us who have this issue. A lawyer is working to make a lawsuit against them but most are afraid that nothing will happen going up against GM who has the time and money to just ignore this until someone is severely hurt. …

Since 2016 this vehicle has had the dash cracking, recently this issue has gotten much worse. The dash is literally about to fall in. This has happened mostly during times it was sitting although driving has definitely made it much worse. I'm concerned that if the airbag does happen to go off it's going to throw sharp pieces of plastic flying throughout the passenger compartment. Another issue I have found is if I set any papers on the dash they fall into the dash. I can now see the wiring inside the dash because of the missing pieces. On top of this you have to be careful touching the dash as I have been cut on several occasions from the sharp edges created by this issue. The center of the dash appears to be on borrowed time it has sunken nearly a half an inch within the last month. …

The dashboards of 2007-2013 Chevy, GMC, Cadillac SUV's and trucks become cracked due to a factory defect in the materials used to make them. They in turn rattle severely. The main cause for concern in upon air bag deployment, pieces from the dash can puncture the air bag rendering it useless and also pieces from the dash can become projectiles causing severe injury as well. GM has failed to acknowledge the severity of this problem and refuses to do anything to remedy it. There are thousands of other identical cases on the internet on various GM forums all stating the same thing. This needs to be addressed!
